SCCA Helmet What to get?
Well I was gonna get the G-Force like Matt has, but then I was thinking I wanted a Red Helmet, I mean I am gonna be wearing the thing,,anyways..what certification does the helmet need? how about this one:
Cool Red Metallic Helmet: http://www.ridegear.com/cgi-bin/Soft...2d9+1054422363 And This: http://www.ridegear.com/cgi-bin/Soft...2d9+1054425715 |
You need it to be Snell 1995 rated or better, so that being a snell m2000 would be fine...

cool matt ur da man.

Actually, according to the rules,(p56, 4.3.1) all the way back to SNELL 1990 is still good, and SA, or M rated.
That said, I would suggest SNELL 2000, and if you can afford it, full face SA rated. Depending on how deep you get into this sport, you may need SA for some events. The most important thing is to get one that fits right! Don't believe the hype. Anything Snell Rated will protect your head. after that, you are paying for brand name, or features. Good Luck. |
thanks, for the details Dean!

Hey Matt, you have a link to that catalog you bought your helmet from, or are they not online?
I've already got a nice Bieffe full-face SN2000 composite helmet, but for some events (esp. the ones in the heat) it'd be nice to have a light open-face helmet too... |
Um, I gave the catalog to Art I think, I cant remeber their URL right now...but I'll get it
|
You gave it to me, but then to someone else. www.racer(something).com

How about:
http://www.racerwholesale.com/ I bought my open face helmet from them last year, some more stuff this year, and have been happy with them. Prices similar to other online retailers for same part numbers. |
