Banking -

Hey everyone. I am getting pretty fed up with the current banker I am with. They keep dropping the ball and making mistakes. It's also not only the people at the branches, its the customer service over the phone.

Is anyone here in banking? Or know of someone that is? We have 2 seperate business accounts, 3 or 4 personal accounts, cd, and a trust account with the corporation we work for.

Just seeing if anyone has any good contacts.

I personally use Bank Of America, they have been great on a personal level for me...

SECCS is through Nevada State bank, and I hate them, they have been less than great, but the account was free, so I can;t complain.

Now, my family (mom, dad, sister) as well as my work, have been with 1st National Bank of Nevada , which is affiliated with other banks in Utah, Az, and other states in the west. They are not huge in this area, but big enough to take care of your needs. I have had nothing but good experiences with them, and would switch to them in a second if the need arose. I would give them a try Art.

Edit: the only contact I know at 1st National is Denny Williams, he is the president (big-shot), but since you are going at this with your business accounts, I'm sure he can be contacted. He is our contact for the trucking company, and seriously, they are a great bank to work with as far as business goes. Denny works out of the Neil Road building. Good luck

BofA licks nutz. I had them before I moved to NV. In fact when I moved, they couldn't (or wouldn't) move my account from CA to NV... they wanted me to close out my CA accounts, get a cashiers check, and use that to open a NV account.

So, I did the 1st part, closing out my CA account. Then opened a Wells Fargo account here. Screw 'em.

Also, when BofA bought out my Fleet credit card, they jacked my fixed 5.9% APR to a variable rate at prime + 10%. Once again, fuck you BofA... way to treat a customer that's been with you since 1983.

Well, B of A has been great for me, but I guess that's part of the "too many good things" problem I had going that Scott so kindly pointed out.

Art, which Bank are you currently using?

Tried a bunch, switched to Wells Fargo about 8 years ago and been happy ever since. No contact though, I do almost everything On-Line since.

Currently using US Bank. I have thought of using a credit union, but they are to limited with our business accounts plus allstate needs a larger bank to hold our trust account in.

We have looked into B of A and Wells Fargo and have met great people. We are just trying to not jump back into another bank we may dislike since its a royal pain moving all these accounts.

I'll look into First National. Also, has anyone heard anything about Nevada Security bank? The one that just opened by my office and Bully's?

I've been using US Bank since I moved to Nevada 3 years ago, and I've been pleased with their service. I opened an account with BoA a month ago because I'm living on the road right now, and US Bank doesn't have very many branches back east.

When I opened the account, they said that most of BoA was on the same system, but some states had different systems from different bank groups that they are still working on merging into the main system. California, Idaho, Boston, and a few other areas are on systems that aren't the main BoA system. They are apparently working on bringing everyone onto the same system, but those migrations take time. I suppose this is the practical consequences for merging together so many banks like Bank of America did in the late 90s.

FWIW, BoA said I'd be able to pull money out of any BoA bank/ATM nationwide, but I wouldn't be able to deposit money at ATMs that weren't on the main BoA system, and those banks wouldn't be able to tell me specific information about my account (what checks had cleared, etc). I actually haven't tried moving money around yet, so I can only assume that's correct.

Don't worry... when BofA gets done w/ you, you wont have any money in your account to transfer around.
