Favorite Cars Game!

Okay, here are the rules:

Pick one marque from each major auto manufacturing country: US, Japan, UK, Germany, and Europe (i.e. any European country that's not UK or Germany).

Then post a picture of your favorite car from that marque!

Note, this is not supposed to be your favorite car from each country, just your favorite car from a specific marque... I'm just limiting by country so you only have to find 5 cars per post. Feel free to pick 5 more marques and play again! :)

Here's my 1st attempt:

Ford (US)
Gulf Ford GT-40, 1968 Le Mans winner:

Subaru (Japan):

Jaguar (UK):

Audi (Germany):

Ferrari (Italy/Europe):

Ford (US)
Gulf Ford GT-40, 1968 Le Mans winner:

Nissan(Japan):
1967 Skyline KPGC10

Lotus/Caterham (UK):
Seven CSR (cossie motor :D)

Audi (Germany):
Audi IMSA Quattro

Lamborghini (Italy/Europe):
1967 Lamborghini Miura

I'll go with your GT40 :D

BTW, framebreaker :D (Edit: not if you use the tags properly!)

sperry 2005-06-03 12:12 PM

That IMSA Quattro is *awesome*, but the Elise, and the Esprit V8 are both > the 7. :P

AtomicLabMonkey 2005-06-03 12:24 PM

Boring day at work, eh Scott? :P

sybir 2005-06-03 12:26 PM

Not just a 7, a 7 with a tuned, 380whp turbo motor out of a rally car.

sperry 2005-06-03 12:27 PM

Okay, here's my round 2:

Chevrolet (US):
2006 Chevy Corvette Z06

Mazda (Japan):

Lots of horsepower does not a "the best car" make!

Granted, this is about opinions and all, so I respect your favorite. But to me the 7 is all about function and looks like ass... I just think the Esprit is a much better looking car... but of course I would... I own an SVX! The Elise is right in the middle, good looks and blazing performance.

But if I had to pick a favorite Lotus, it'd be this one:

The 1966/7 Lotus 49 Formula One car:

It's not all about power. However, a 400hp Seven is about as close to motorcycle power/weight as you'll realistically be able to get on 4 wheels, and that has always appealed to me since I don't trust myself on a bike.

Good call on the Formula car, though :D

sybir 2005-06-03 12:54 PM

BTW. have you ever noticed that my favorite cars seem to be ugly things with lots of power that handle? Screw form :D
(and ignore the current state of my vehicle :p)

What about that Turbo Hayabusa powered Kart? That's like 250hp in a 4 wheeled vehicle that weighs *less* than a bike!

What I've noticed is that my favoriest are turning out to be non-US cars from the 60's... especially endurance cars. So, good luck w/ me ever owning any of 'em!

And your wagon is the shit! Just get your swap done!

bruspeed 2005-06-03 01:05 PM

Those are some really good lists, I'll think about it and post when I get home. Keep up the good work! :D

Man, that 550 really puts a squeeze on the 250 GTO I posted... it may in fact be the cooler Ferrari.

MattR 2005-06-03 02:06 PM

So, Did I win?

If it had a 12cyl motor, I'd agree w/ you hands-down... but Ferrari != V8!

Nice list Scotty!

That Forrester pick is sick!

I think the last of the Air Cooled 911's are better than the 996 however:
1997 Porsche 911/993 Turbo S

And that Testarossa was a fixture in poster form on my wall from 1984 to 1992. :D

Dean 2005-06-03 03:05 PM

Germany: 196? Mercedes Benz C111 test cars. I had an orange Corgi car of this when I was a kid. Wish I still had it.
http://www.germancarfans.com/classic...01.Mini14L.jpg

France: 1970 Renault R8 Gordini. I got to drive one of these as a kid in the bay area. Sybir would like due to it's power to weight ratio. some/0 = infinity... And yes, you could get them in any color as long as it was light-medium blue.
http://www.delest.nl/media/img/DCP_4450.JPG

UK: 1977 Lotus Esprit "Q" edition. Again, i had a Corgi of this one at some point with working missle launchers...
http://www.vidiauto.com/slike_novost...18_lotus_v.jpg

US: 1981 De lorean Motor Company DMC-12
http://www.ryanwright.com/delorean/ext1.jpg

Japan: 1995 Mitsubishi 300GT VR-4 Spyder. The first ever production 320HP AWD, AWS Folding hard top car.
