some sweet MINI action
 

So I stopped by the Hilton where they are having a Karting Competition.

The corporate sponsor for the event is MINI.

I went to go look at the MINIs cause well I like cars right, and the new convertible is really cool.

So the sales guys says:

“You can go drive it on the Kart track.”

I say:

“ha!……. wait what?”

45 minutes later I am waiting behind the lead MINI in line to go out on the track! He gives me a standard safety lecture and stuff. He said he would pick up the pace depending on driver skill! Stay a car length behind me…

Ok, so he goes and I go. I was utterly shocked how fast we were going on the parade lap. I’m ready for a Sunday drive and I actually had to use the gas.

On the next lap the 3 cars that were behind the instructor and I are now way back. I am following him freaking having to push the car to keep up. I am not kidding he was going pretty fast right next to they hay bails I had to keep on the line to keep up. I had the tires squealing around most of the turns!

When were done he comes up to me a little surprised I guess. He said I stayed on the line great and was the fastest guy he had in his sessions so far!

That was so much fun! Sitting here I’m still surprised how fast he let me go in that thing!

I don’t know how many more MINI sessions they are doing but if you can stop by down there go do it!

I was in a standard MINI with an auto tranny.

awesome.. my grandma might be getting one.. automagic sadly.. but oh well haha.. i get to build it for her! they are not badly priced at all.. :)

Damn, we should have decended on the place... Would have been a blast pushing the leader around in a train with tires squeeling... Would need SECCS stickers on magnets!

Tyson, I can't believe you got to drive a Mini around that little road course, must've been awesome! What did you think of the car's handling?

My friends and I went there on Saturday. We looked at the Mini's, but only briefly. Man I wish I would have stopped now.

I actually got to drive it around twice on Sunday because no one else showed up, serious seat time!

I probably did around 20 laps between the two days.

Can you say H Stock Army... Tyson is their new leader...

I got some video also, but Hell if I'm gonna figure how to post it off my brother's miniDV? thing.

Yah I didn't get to drive an S or a 5-speed for that matter.

you can't have everything.

S is a 6 speed...and it's a sweet ride.

yah I know.

But I didn't get to drive a 5-speed. NA or other wise.
