Nextel Coverage?

I've been having service issues in the NW(Mae Anne/Caughlin) area of Reno. Anyone else experiencing issues with their Nextels?

JonnydaJibba 2005-08-11 12:24 PM

Um yeah, but my problem is that I have Nextel. Worst service provider ever.

So yeah, I'm experiencing issues with Nextel.

I haven't had issues w/ Nextel as a company... but the coverage here in Reno does seem to blow monkey nuts. Especially on the i860 phones.

...at least Nextel hasn't tried to change my contract out from under me like Cingular did, and later AT&T did when they were bought out by Cingular.

Verizon sucks the least! [insert joke here]

That's funny; JC, Jonny and myself were discussing how shitty Nextel's coverage is just the other day.

I have the i58sr phone and constantly I have to turn the damn thing off just to get it to acquire a signal. But the most annoying thing is that I can never finish a conversation without it going to crap on me.

Sprint PCS is pretty good in this area, I get service pretty much everywhere. But have been dropping a few calls lately. Not too noticable though, maybe thats because of who I've been talking to.

The only reason I'm sticking around w/ Nextel is the hope that their merger w/ Sprint will result in switching over to Sprint's latest and greatest network. It's supposed to be CDMA (not new) with some 1X something or other high-speed data network (new, and "hella fast").

Hopefully that will mean some slick phones since CDMA radios aren't as big as the older iDen radios, better coverage, and usefull wireless internet access.

I think my coverage is actually getting worse (and it was bad before). I can't wait to get a new company.

I agree... and I can't figure out how the hell that happens. I wonder if there are so many new people moved in to the area lately that the towers are just maxed out.

Dean 2005-08-11 03:25 PM

My Verizon has 1X right now... I think they have the bst coverage around...

I'm using a tri band phone because digital still sucks up at the lake until Sierra Wireless gets around to upgrading their stupid towers to digital. Analog still out in the middle of the state in places as well still. Lovelock I think...

I might be able to hook you up with a discount if anyone is interested. 17% off regular plans, 10% off promotional plans, and 25% off accesories, and I think no activation...
