Wanna race.

Simply put, my buddy and I want to go do some racing. My car handles well on the way up to Virginia City, but I want some track time, but have never done this and don't even know where to begin.
My pal has a 98 Acura Integra (no rice, it's actually a decent car) and he's afraid of all of the Subaru people busting his balls, but I told him a well built car is still respected, even without stars on the badge! Ha Ha! :P

If anyone could let me know when and where we can get on a track or road course, and how much this will cost/ requirements for safety and vehicle mods, it would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks Folks!

Well, there are always Solo2 events throughout the spring/summer. The next one here in Reno is Oct 1st and 2nd. I believe Reno-Fernley has grudge match drag racing on a regular basis, but since that's not my thing, I'm out of the loop on how it works or when they're held.

Also, if you want some track time, check out www.unlimitedlaps.com and www.trackmasters-racing.com, both good organizations for getting on track for cheap!

Finally... you're gonna kill a '98 Teg pretty much anywhere unless he's got some serious work done to it.

Personally I love Acura's. I have an MDX and it is one of the best made cars I have ever owned. You can't even compare the build quality with the subaru. The Acura's build quality rivals some of the nicest german cars.

Regarding the track - look for posted track days here and in i-club. All you really need is a good helmet and well functioning brakes!

Prices range from $200 / day to $550 for a weekend on the high side. Trackmaster's had a great deal at RFR this summer - 2 days for $375.

You will have a blast.

Thanks for the info! Sperry, I know I'll kill him, as he does too, but racing in straight lines is BORING!!! I've drag raced my car once, BFD! The car is pretty stout though, I did a lot of the work myself.

So, all we really need is a good helmet of course, a sound car, and some money. I see the events posted on here all the time, but didn't know if we needed some membership, or license to run these events. We plan to be out asap, so look for us!

Oh, and to defend my buddy, anyone who has questions reguarding an Integra on the track, look up the name Peter Cunningham! Ha Ha!

If you don't want to wait until september for cheap time, We do have an autocross at lovelock , September 3rd. about an hour drive from Reno, but worth it... $30 for the day, $20 for members. You could both comeout and learn before going to the track.

I know I'll be there :)

So yeah, no helmets, and my buddy has a 10 week old baby as well, so anything on such short notice we won't be able to do, but we definitely will be out. We just need to get our shit together, and be able to plan a good time for both of us to go out. We can't just dump everything on his wife all at once, she's always cool, but that can't be taken advantage of.

Appreciate the heads up guys! We WILL see you on the course, just as soon as we can!
