Which one? S2000 / 350Z Roadster / Evo IX MR
I'm in a market for a new car by the end of the year. Sorry no 06 STI for me.
I will use it everyday and a few auto-x. So which one and why? |
well, I didn't vote yet.......
what do you really want the car to do? you have some varry different cars list. The S2000 and 350Z are both 2 seater cars and rear wheel drive (could be hard if we get another big storm like last year). with those you will be limited to space and passangers. The Evo on the other hand can do many things???? do you really need a poll? I think almost everyone here would chose an all wheel drive car over others ;) |
How much you want to spend?
The older S2000s are better than the 04(?)+ IMHO, and cheaper. I'd get a BMW Z4 before a 350Z roadster If you want a fun little roadster, MX-5/Miata is still the way to go. If you want a fast roadster, 00-03 S2000 is the way to go bang for your buck wise. Evo is a totally different beast. No comparison, and fun for completely different reasons. |
Evo, then S2K, then Z. The Z would have been higher on the list, as I do work for Nissan, but when you put roadster, you shot it down. The roadster is considerably heavier, and handles like a box full of shit by comparison.
Dean was right, the Evo is another car, but between those three, that's my opinion. |

The other two would be fun, but I'd go with the Evo for AWD. :) |
Thank for all the input. I never have a convertible so that why I want one.
For MikeSTI I have a POS-UV for big snow and Minivan for kids. For Dean I always have a bad luck with used car (all 5 of them) so it have to be new and budget is less than 37K. Evo is on the list even not convertible because of AWD and 4 seater. |
sounds like your set then.....S2K for teh win!!!! You will have a blast with it, just dont mod it and get the extended warrinty
|
Z4s are less than 37K, so 05 Z4
05-06 MX-5 Miata. 05-06 S2Ks aren't as much fun as the 00-04s. Sell everything and get a S4 Cabriolet. http://www.audiusa.com/model_home/0,...h_home_theater http://www.audiusa.com/common/images...1_s4cab_lg.jpg |
If you're going to use it "everyday" I'd stay away from the S2000... it's just too small. The 'vert Z is too heavy, so it's all about the EVO.. plus the EVO w/ snow tires will rock in the winter.

An S2000 is a great 2nd car. I don't think that I would still have mine if it were a daily driver.
With the top up there are huge blindspots which make driving in city traffic a little sketchy. With the top down the black interior gets pretty damn hot in the summer. |
Holy crap- I have a new avatar! SWEET.:cool:
|
It's a great one. I'm guessing a gift from Sperry.
BTW zpeed, I say the Evo. Personal preference. I like the chunkier more functional cars. |
I dig it. Technically, it should be "Give 'er the berries" though.
|
For a daily driver, under $37k, why are you considering the Evo but ruling out the STi? In all non-performance aspects, the STi is better.
|
My dream one was M3 Conv. but at 65K and 3-4 months wait, I pass.
|
Evo MR cuz, evo mr, duh.
|
EVO, cause I'm getting one. hahaha. wait... Z cause, if it weren't for the snow I'd had bought it instead. Damn those Zs are sexy cars. They have about the best damn interior around. Don't bother witht the 'vert Z though. ...and uh... S2s are torqueless.
|
well they are all good cars.. i just wouldn't get the 350 because i dont like it at all. The MR is good because it has 4 doors, more space, AWD, 6spd, the BBS wheels.. etc. down side is the interior looks cheap.. the S2k and 350z have really nice interior. although the s2k feels cheap to me as well. torqless yes, but the pimp factor.. priceless. hahaha

Personally I’d go with the S2000. I love the way they feel in the corners; the way it sticks to the road, the response you get from the suspension, and from the steering. Its totally awesome, I love it. If you’re looking into buying a used S2000 might I suggest purchasing a 2003? The 03 was the last year Honda put the 2 liter in the S2000, in 04 they put in a 2.2 liter. The 2.2 did have more torque than the previous years, but the redline dropped from 9000 to 8000. In 03 they installed a glass window in the convertible top, which was a much needed improvement. The plastic windows got all dirty and are a pain in the ass to clean. The 03 also had the interior changes, with the leather around the center console instead of the carpet. It also has the tweeters in the doors. I like the 2-liter over the 2.2 but that’s just my opinion. On another note the S2000 is not drivable in the snow, if you'll be driving you're new vehicle in the winter go with the EVO. In any case I'd stay away from the Z.

I agree with Bobby 100%
|
For a Daily driver/auto-x the Evo! whats wrong with 06 Sti? Its starting to grow on me in black bronze wheels
|
Damn no point for 350Z at all. No 06 STI because of the nose job that they put it on. That the same reason I did not get an EVO VIII.
|
According to Lithia's website, they still have a few '05s in stock. . .
|
If there is still 05 STI in the lot maybe, when I'm ready (about 3-4 months).
