Hmmmm, maybe. I always thought of bands like Tool, hed pe, and Deftones as pioneers, but I'm not a music buff by any means. I used to be into Ministry, NIN, and KMFDM, but I lost interest. (Although I get very nostalgic when I throw on Pretty Hate Machine or Downward Spiral).
To be honest, the only KoRn album I like is KoRn. It's been played out for years, but songs like Ball-Tongue sound so amazing on a good system. Tool is the most amazing live band I've ever seen by a lot...but I'm not as into Aenima and their newer album. A Pefect Circle did a really good job at coverin the Beatle's Imagine though. I have the music video and it's pretty cool.
I'll have to check out MBV and Front 242. I hadn't heard of them.
I'm not a fanboy for any of the bands I listed (except maybe Tool and deftones), but I was just trying to give Libila an idea what I meant by hard rock. To be honest, I haven't heard any new hard rock that I like for a long time. The ones I listed are just the ones that I'll still listen to sometimes. Mudvein is new, but since I saw them perform on Konan, I'm less of a fan. They looked fresh out of Hot Topic. :~:
Even System of a Down sucks now. :( Nowadays, I listen to mostly Electronica: Dara, AK 1200, Cari Lekebusch, Baby Ann, Terri Mullan, James Lavelle, Ellen Ferrato, DJ Rap, to name a few of my favorites.
I also like Radiohead, Coldplay, Janes Addiction, and Modest Mouse (as mentioned before).
In the past I've been a huge fan of Primus, Del the funky homosapien (Hieroglyphics), Mr. Bungle, Nuclear Rabbit, Pharcyde, Spearhead, Sublime (who I still love, but obviously they won't be coming out with any new albums with Brad Nowell singing :( ), Rage (remember when they first came out? They were sick!), Nirvana (Kurt Kobane (sp?) is who inspired me to grow my hair long in Juinior High. I finally cut it all off a couple years ago, but I still recycle and stuff.), Pink Floyd (talk about pioneers! They're shit is amazing), Beastie Boys (they get old but still put on a good show), and Eminem (Yes I even liked 8 mile).
I still like most of the above bands, but they're new shit either sux or they have broken up and I've gotten tired of they're old albums.
