When rediculous comes to mind...

So figuring that not all of you have the time to peruse the forums everywhere as much as I, I figured I could repost this as It caught my attention.

Lets just say, overkill much ?

word...

yeah thats 2, count em 2, gt35r turbos AND an AMG supercharger.

knucklesplitter 2005-09-21 10:46 AM

Take off the supercharger and that's the perfect amount of forced induction...

... for a 6-liter V8.

JonnydaJibba 2005-09-21 10:47 AM

Yeah I saw that somewheres. Thats like doing it just to see if you can. I think it's cool that they did it, just kinda silly.

Is there anyway that he could actually use ALL the power that motor has to offer?

knucklesplitter 2005-09-21 10:53 AM

What about two stock WRX turbos (sans supercharger) on a 2.5l? They're cheap and can supply up to 600bhp. Hmmm... Sounds like a fun winter project. I think the firing order on the 4-cyl. does not lend itself to twin turbos, but what about the 3.0l flat 6?

No. That's why I said it's a great set-up for a 6-liter (or 8) V8, and even then the supercharger is superfluous.

The guy claims that the car actually benefits from all that crap. IMO, a properly sized single turbo will make more than that crap will make, and weigh 150 lbs less, cost $50,000 cheaper, and be about 1000 times easier to maintain.

Now if it was just for show-car shits and giggles, that might be one thing, but I heard this car is intended to be drag raced.

its actually very sound, the super forces the turbos up to spool, which means the turbos are always spooled. hence no lag claims.

also its only12k for that setup. which when you think about it is pretty fair. considering the size of the fmic and the fact that its an actual amg supercharger, not to mention the gt35r's arent cheap.

however i agree, completly impractical.

SlickNick112 2005-09-21 08:53 PM

Still, I'd love to have it. Just to say that I got it!

I can't imagine he'll be making significantly more power than when he had a supercharger and one GT35R. And if he really wanted to fight lag, a launch control and ALS setup would work just as well, if not better.

eh, splitting hairs really. it all makes sense on paper. and ALS comes with a pretty hefty price tag. the longevity of your turbo. gtr's are getting wasted after only 5000 miles.

Something tells me this car won't make 10,000 miles before something breaks. And he's already paid for two turbos!
