The French didn't originate this. Asiatech, the engine builder for Arrows (in 2001) and Minardi (in 2002) played "When the Saints Go Marching in" as a farewell to the Arrows team back in 2001.

Sure, but the whole idea of making an F1 motor "sing" is actually Australian... so it "originated" in Australia. The french just ripped it off.
