2004 Forester Turbo - Sighting/Sit In

Well, I got to see the '04 Forester XT yesterday at the 7-11 off McCarren. Got to take a peak inside and everything. Too bad its the only time I didn't have my camera. This one came from Michael Hohl's in Carson. I have never seen a Forester look that good with tha hood scoop....especially since its not as over done as the STi's or new WRX's.

A 2-Thumbs up!

Most of the people that have test drove them over nasioc commented on how they are not as fast as expected, and already looking for mods to bump up the stock 210-hp. It also seems that the only ones that have test-driven them are privious Forester owners. Many commented on the rear-end looking to weird.

Um, because dealers tend to be was less informed than the enthusiasts... remember my story about the WRX's "totally electic A/C that takes no power from the motor"? That's a rich one.... sounds like the new rally A/C's they're looking at in WRC.

WHOLY FUCK!!! C&D turned a 13.8 in a stock Forester XT.... that is hella insane... not as fast as they expected? what did they want? an STI!? I found the wifes wagon... er... at least i'll say its hers *giggles*

ArthurS 2003-06-27 11:05 AM

Well people were expecting results that didn't stray to far away from the WRX. But from what they were saying is that it is a noticable difference between the WRX and the XT.

STIwish 2003-06-27 11:18 AM

To be expected... 2 different cars... 2 different styles.... but a 13.8 stock out of a Forester is just plain cool

ArthurS 2003-06-27 11:30 AM

Like I said.....2 thumbs up IMHO. I don't like the rear-end, but hey, for a REAL grocery getter, its tight.

STIwish 2003-06-27 11:37 AM

Amen :)

Well there could be something to that if the alternator the designers had already selected for the car (for cost/vendor reasons for example) had spare amperage left over; then an electric A/C compressor wouldn't cost you any additional power, right?

LOL... no the guy told me the compressor runs off the alternator, therefore "it doesn't take use power from the engine". I asked where the power came from... somehow he didn't make the connection that the motor turns the alternator. Oh and nevermind the belt that turns the A/C compressor clearly visible on the front of the motor.

AtomicLabMonkey 2003-06-30 07:25 AM

Lol, oh I thought at least it was actually electric powered, if it's belt driven he really was talking out of his ass.

Well I just got the new C & D, and they did a test on the Turbo forester. Here are the results:

0-30 mph: 1.3 seconds
0-60 mph: 5.3 seconds
0-100 mph: 15.0 seconds
1/4 mile time: 13.8 sec @ 97 mph
Top speed: 129 mph governor limited

70-0 mph breaking: 184 ft

This is of course with the 5-speed transmission. I may be wrong, but doesn't this beat the stock WRX? C & D did a similar road test on the WRX and came up with these figures:

0-60 mph: 5.7 seconds
0-100 mph: 17.3 seconds
1/4 mile time: 14.5 sec @ 93 mph
Top speed: 145 mph governor limited

70-0 mph breaking: 188 ft

This is the same magizine doing the tests.

Sometimes the same test on different days yields different results. But either way, that Forester is one unassuming sonofabitch!! I think all you wagon owners should trade in on the Forester-T!! Same oomph, more space!
