Thread about Alex Zanardi over at NASIOC...
...it's got a pretty gruesome picture of the wreck in which he lost his legs. :(
http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/show...php?p=11995361 It's pretty inspiring to see that he's racing touring cars these days despite his injury. |
Very cool. I love the corkscrew pass, it's always cracked me up. It takes balls to put everything on the line like that.

I just need to point out that the still picture of the crash is a little disturbing. My God! I don't think I need to go into detail, but damn...

I think he just won his first touring car race since the accident over the weekend...

Zanardi's driving an F1 test car for BMW:
http://www.f1racing.net/en/news.php?newsID=134352 I wonder if they'll have to add two legs worth of balast to the front of the car to get accurate test data? |
Man oh man.

That's awesome for Zinardi (testing for BMW that is).
I don't know if it was posted yet or not, but I guess a few years ago he came back, got in a Champ Car and drove the 13 laps that he had left when he had the accident that cost him his legs. And he supposedly still drove the piss out of the car, and didn't just putter around for the emotional victory. He also now has a few WTCC wins under his belt, if I recall correctly. |

Zanardi's one amazing guy... losing both legs never slowed him down, it just moved him into different cars. He was on grid at one of the F1 races this season, I remember seeing Peter Winsor saying hi to him live from pit lane between driver interviews. |
Someone said his laptimes in that car (the one he "finished" the race in) would have put him 4th on the grid. Not sure if they meant the race he was hurt in, or the one he was at when he finished.
