Yes, a weekend at Thunderhill in January... Great instructors, and hopefully, some weather to make it interesting. Great track for all levels of experience.

If my clients payup I will go to this one. Unfortunately it will require the purchase of some form of summer tire for the event as I only have my Dunlop M3 wintersports for right now.

Those may be just fine if the event's in the wet. ;)

I will know this next week whether or not I can make this event...I don't have wet tires though :( So hopefully my RE070s will get by.

Hello all,

As many of you may know, besides being the owner of Sideline Sports Photography, I also happen to be Randy's agent.

Randy has this date open and informed me today that he'd love to instruct at the Thunderhill event.

Randy won the 25 hours of Thunderhill in 2004, so he knows the track pretty well.

His time can be split by up to four drivers per day, so the experience can actually be quite affordable.

Randy plans on attending both days, so there exists the potential to have Randy work with up to eight people or for one lucky soul to have him for two days to himself!

Randy is very helpful with car set up, driving technique, video analysis, etc.

If interested, please write me at Mikessp@ameritech.net or call my cell at (847)456-6514. Email is MUCH better until after January 2, 2006.

First come, first serve. Credit cards, checks and cash accepted.

Thanks again,

Mike Stahlschmidt

So, anybody sign up?

Kevin M 2006-01-05 11:26 PM

Too soon for me. I'm thinking shortly before or after the Solo 2 seasons begins for my first track day this eyar.

Well, you missed a great event you turkeys... Drive both ways was cake. No weather, etc. 3 hours each way.

The Rain on Sat. was perfect humble pie for the advanced students, and instructors. Dried out in the afternnon slowly, and then was beautiful Sunday.

We actually had more mud excursions at 5A & 6 than 3. I videod one session group in the rain Sat. and 1 dry Sun. The dry should be pretty good. Dean Treadway and I had some fun for a while... I just kept forgetting the camera... No Stills, to busy.

The 2Bennett GTR went for an amazing off-road excursion straight off at 9... a couple hundred yards, over/through a dirt/mud barrier 3' high. Lots of Mud in all teh orifices, and much carbon fiber munched. At least the lower lip/splitter wasn't on. There will be pics somewhere. I'll see if I can hunt some down.

Sounds like fun. How do you like you're new bushings/mounts Dean?

Dean 2006-01-27 10:58 PM

By popular demand. (Or MikeK pestering me incessantly.)
Thunderhill video is now in the Gallery

30 minutes in the rain Saturday morning on the Hankook Icebear W300 snow tires.

and

30 minutes in the dry Sunday afternoon on the old Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212s.

About 125mb each. That's as about small as I could get them in 640x480. Scott let me know if that is to big, and I'll drop them to 320x240.

Master Dean say,"Ahhh, brake smoother, drive harder". Half past eleven after work and drinking a few beers and lets look at the Thunder Hill video. Leaning left, right, braking, etc.... wait I'm just in a chair, shit I need to do a track day !...
