How did you hear about SECCS?

I'm just kind of curious how everyone found the board.

I remember, I was at the street races (yeah I know), a couple of years ago, in my bugeye, and someone gave me the SECCS card. I checked out the board, came to a couple meets, brought some friends, and so on.

I found SECCS via a Google search on something Subaru related. I also saw a Subie or two with SECCS decals in the area just after moving back to Northern NV. JC suggested that I become active on the board.

I registered the domain name, so I guess I kinda "heard" about it in my own head as I was typing. ;) "S... E... C... C... S... hehheh... it says 'sex'... uuhuhuuhu..."

And yes, I type with just the index fingers from each hand. It's taken me damn near 4000 hours of work to make my 8600 or so posts. :P

JC pointed me here from RS25.com. . .
And I can't remember how I found RS25.com. I think a friend mentioned it to me.

Ah, I still remember my first time on SECCS.

http://www.seccs.org/forums/showthread.php?t=720

That intro basically says it all. Moved to Sac, started hanging out there. Met the SECCS crew at a Dyno Day. Moved (kinda) to the area, so I started posting. 6 months or so later, I moved to Reno.

bxracer69 2006-01-02 11:20 PM

i found it 2 years ago when i moved out here from milwaukee, looking for some other subie owners to hang out with.

cody 2006-01-02 11:30 PM

Google.

The "official" SECCS family tree- http://www.seccs.org/forums/showthread.php?t=2314

When I started getting into autocross, I heard that the reno region was putting on better events than the slowly dying Sac region/AAX/CSCC. Started coming up here regularly, realized NV>CA, and moved. To put it as briefly as possible. :p

Way back on the original i-Club there was a thread in the BAIC for all of us Reno people to keep in touch. Then at some point Scott made doink.net and invited us all (there might have been 10 of us) over. Then i-Club became NASIOC, doink.net became SECCS, and the new i-Club started (not necessarily in that order).

tysonK 2006-01-03 08:03 AM

I found it through Art via Cobb Forums.

MattR 2006-01-03 08:28 AM

I was here early...I met JC first, then Scott, (Mostly thru old I club) And doink was started....then seccs.

I've never owned a Subaru but I went to Cal Poly with Scott... so I ended up posting here on his forum somehow. :?:

Same, member #9 or 10 (right after Khail). Met some of the early group in-person at the Hilton go-karts.

DARKSTI 2006-01-03 10:35 AM

It was that thread on I-Club :D

sonicsuby 2006-01-03 10:43 AM

I heard about it through existing members.

JonnydaJibba 2006-01-03 10:56 AM

I'm pretty sure I found out by somebody telling me something that had some kind of meaning. But the details are sketchy.

zpeed 2006-01-03 11:29 AM

From the search on the web. My Brother just buy an STI so I'm looking for some local group. Still don't have a car yet.

Ezdno 2006-01-03 08:01 PM

You can blame Cory MPREZIV for my timely appearance on the ole board!

It has added 25 seccs appeal points to my resume!

Libila 2006-01-04 08:36 AM

I think I heard about it through Bobby. Yeah, we used to be hella tight street racers  I guess that's they only thing DSMs are good for.

Knowing that you owned a Mustang at the time, I think we can piece together the evening...

So there you were at the tittie bar/barber shop getting your mullet trimmed. Once you ran out of food stamps for the strippers, you decided to head home. You stopped by the gun shop/bait shop/liquor store to pick up a couple of six packs and a forty, one sixer for the drive home and the forty to pour out for number 3. With a few beers under your belt, you used your sweet racing skills to smoke a bitchin' IROC on the way back to the trailer park. He insists that he will get you next time with the added weight reduction when his 400lb 14 year old cousin sitting shotgun has his 3rd kid. Anyway, once you get back to your double wide to your computer room/outhouse you turn on your new 486, that you got in exchange for letting your neighbor's book learned kid see your sisters titties. Wanting to check out a little porn-oh, you tried to think back to 8th grade last year and remember how to spell sex. After getting pissed trying secks, seks, secs, in your drunken stupor you finally typed seccs and got here. Then finally you got so drunk you passed out dreaming that some day dale earnhart jr. would come take you away. Obviously I wasn't there, but I figure more or less.
