GT5 (Vision Gran Turismo?) trailer
http://media.ps3.ign.com/media/713/713809/vids_1.html
Looks like I'd expected- which is to say, amazing. rumors are flying about significantly larger fields when racing (12-15+ opponents... let's hope) and furhter fleshed-out car selections. So, group buy on PS3s everybody? :) |
Oh boy! I would have been willing to keep gt4's graphics if they would add 8 more cars to the field, but it doesn't look like I have to worry about that. I hope for the best, but really I've never been that disapointed in that series anyways so.... I'm in.

If this is the same movie that was floating around during SEMA, it's *not* GT5. From what I heard, they're attempting to make a version of GT4 with higher resolution graphics (not more detailed than GT4, just higher resolution), more cars in the field, and some other minor improvements to be available when the PS3 comes out since GT5 is still a while off.
IMO, it will be worth buying, but probably nothing ground breaking. |
I agree- actually, that's exactly what could be said about the last 3 releases of Gran Turismo. Nothing ground breaking, just incremental improvements (mostly). I suppose one could also get into a seriously semantic argument over whether the trailer really is GT5- I mean, won't the graphics engine be basically the same, just a little modified? Anyways, the trailer looks sweet, and the actual release of GT5 will look at least that good if not better. It's too bad Sony owns GT though, I'd rather not have to choose between GT5 and the other few games I'd be likely to buy in the next couple years, and I won't be buying both new consoles. :(

My point about not being "ground breaking" was in specific a reference to all the new bells and whistles GT5 is supposed to have. Like online play, new cars, new tracks, etc. You know, the stuff outside of the graphics that makes GT3 different from GT4.
This "GT4+" game will be GT4, but just ported to run on the PS3 with higher resolution graphics and more AI cars, and whatever other minor changes they need to add to get it to run on the new machine. It's really not a "new" game... think of it like a PC game where you upgrade your computer, and now you can crank up the detail in Half-Life 2 or something... same game, just looks better. |
Yeah that video is awesome. I'm sure you guys have seen these?
http://ice9gaming.com/uploads/sigs/9..._screen001.jpg http://ice9gaming.com/uploads/sigs/9..._screen003.jpg They better damn well have more then a 12-15 car grid, but a lot will change before it's release. I mean I've read that there will be a much higher poly count, online play, damage, a new physics engine (or rather an updated version of the current one). But things change so much that I won't believe it until I see it. Quote:

I like how that dude with the glasses is in the paddock like 40 times in the second picture.
Oh, and in addition to my rants about the rally... GT4's circle track stuff is unacceptable as well... that's something they really sould work on. It's retarded that you have a car that will push 4/5ths of the turn then snap oversteer on exit... and softening the front suspension has zero effect. |

doesn't it say Gran Turismo 4 on the drivers suit of the pit crews?? |
