Want to Buy: aftermarket stereo
SO, does anybody have any nice head units sitting around? My kenwood shit took a crap on me this morning, and won't reset or anything! Frankly, the thing that pisses me off the most is my Slipknot CD is stuck in the SOB! No biggie there, I'll just dissect it after I replace it.
So, like I said, does anyone have anything I could buy? Only thing I'd really like to have is subwoofer pre-outs, and the wiring harness/plug, unless it's a kenwood as well. Hope someone can help. I'm sad without my music... :( |
I have a Pioneer Premeir deck laying around somewhere. I dont think it will suit your needs though. It has no internal Amp (only 3 5volt rca pre-outs).

Decent decks are cheap these days, you can get a new CD-R/mp3 capable one for under $100.

I've been thinking about replacing my Eclipse 3424 with something better. It's a pretty good deck, 3 sets of preouts, sub level control, high and low pass crossovers built in. I'd let it go fairly cheap, they usually go between $150 and $200 on ebay. I think it retailed at around $249 or so. Let me know if you're interested.

I'd like to sell my stock HU for somthing better someday. You don't have a double DIN do you Cory?
|
Cody: I've got the stocker sitting around somewhere, but that's it. My car's got a conversion kit for a single din, so it would be easy to put in either a single or a double.
Sperry: Hey, fuck you! Khail: Im DEFINITELY interested! Sounds like what I'm looking for, and then some! Let me know if you're ready to sell, and how much. We could work something out for sure! ALM: Some good deals there! If I can't find anything local and used, but not used up, I'll likely be looking into buying a new one. Just don't wanna spend the money for a new one if I can find a decent deal here is all! |
I'd say $150 for you, if you could wait a little while until I get a new deck that would be cool. If you don't want to wait then I gues I could go without sound for a few days. It is a really nice deck, easy to use and great Eclipse sound. Here's a pic.

Cool Khail! Sounds awesome! If by a little while, you mean a few days (like you said) to a week, no problem! I just don't want to wait a month listening to only the squeak and rattle symphony that is my car! Ha!
|
Cool, I'll get something ordered right away so I can get you this one. I've got a couple I'm looking at right now.
|
Call it a done deal dude! Lemme know whenever you're ready, and I'll get cash together for ya!
|
OK, new deck will be shipped on Monday, so I should have it here this week. I'll keep you posted.
|
Cory, I got the tracking number today. My new (used) Eclipse 8053 will be here Friday, but if you don't want to wait that long I could get mine to you before then. I know it sucks to be without tunes, so let me know if you want it sooner.
|
Dude, I really appreciate the offer, but I couldn't let YOU roll around without tunes too! I can wait bro. It'll work out well anyway, because I get paid on Thursday, so I can have cash for you on Friday or the weekend, whenever we can get together to swap.
|
OK, I'll get it installed Fri night or Sat am, I'll let you know.

Wow. I have to say that the sound difference is amazing! I had never really had the opportunity to make a comparison between a run of the mill head unit, and a nice, higher end one. I am really impressed! The quality of sound that this thing has is just awesome! It puts that stinkin ass Kenwood I had to SHAME!
Thanks again Khail! I couldn't be happier! |
Hey, no problem. Glad you like it, I don't think I'll ever buy anything but Eclipse again. I had a $400 Clarion before the first Eclipse (CD3413) I bought. I was really blown away by how much cleaner the Eclipse sounded. That 3413 I bought wasn't even the mid range Eclipse either, just the basic MP3 deck. Then it got stolen and I moved up to the one I sold you, which sounds just as good but has more features. And now the 8053 I have now is just unreal. You can delay each individual tweeter and woofer in milliseconds, so that the sound reaches your listening position at the same time. I still haven't finished messing around with it!

I have an Alpine 7998 and the sound quality is Amazing. its got a 0.008% THD (very low) . when buying a head unit look for THD % (lower better) and the RMS watts (if you are going for one with ampped channels) low THD % for sound quality. RMS Watts for power. ;)
|
Thanks for bumping yet another old thread...
The 7998 is a nice older deck, a lot of SQ guys prefer them to the newer Alpine models. I love the Eclipse combination of unbeatable SQ (for the price) and the low-key looks and display. Even Alpines are too flashy for me, and they are better than most. |
Agreed on the looks! That thing looks so clean in my dash! Like it was meant to be...
