Need a drill press with 3/4" metal bit.
 

I need to drill some 3/4" holes in some sheet copper for my WB O2 sensor heat sink.

Anybody have access to a drill press and a 3/4" metal bit?

Harbor Freight? That's where I go for all my 1 time use tools. :P

Why a drill press? Is it really thick material?

If not, go get a Unibit stepdrill bit. These things are awesome!

Ditto the Unibit, I love mine. As long as your copper is 1/8" thick or less it should work great. Feel free to swing by use it and my drill press anytime you need to. I get home around 5-5:30 weekdays, off on weekends.

It's just .0675" sheet copper..

So a field trip to Harbor Freight for a Chinese knock off Unibit it is. I need a bamboo steamer and a Flowbee anyway... :)

Damn, $30 bucks for 3 bits... What is this, Sears? :(

Guess it's better than the $20+ per bit at home Depot.

Please! I paid $60 for my Irwin Titanium. That's 1 drillbit! Kicks ass, though!

Paid $30 for my Uni-Bit at HD, but I bought my friend the harbor freight ones and he said they worked good.

I'm bummed the two bit set that goes up to 1/2" goes on sale this weekend for $9.99, but no deal on anything that goes up to 3/4".

Harbor freight stuff is great. My cordless impact wrench has got to be up over 100+ wheel changes. Most used power tool I own.

Harbor Freight is almost as much fun as going to Frys. In addition to the Flowbee, and bamboo steamer , I got a set of 32 "security" 1/4" hex drive bits. So if anyone ever needs to undo one of those pesky torx screws with the pin in the middle, let me know. There are some funky bits in there. 3 point Phillips, things that look like shovels with the center cut out, etc.

I also got some pretty anodized and nylon sheathed for your protection lug nut sockets for my new forged aluminum lug nuts, and my already abused wheels, and 6 pair of leather work gloves for $8. the later are great for manhandling tires and such. I think the last 6 pair have lasted me 8 or so years, whereas the two pair of genuine Mechanix gloves I bought lasted about 8-12 months total, and they were much more than $8.

Oh sure, abuse my aluminum lugs, and save the nylong sheathed sockets for youself. :P

Actually, I saw a guy using one at the last event, and asked where he got it. he said "Snap-On" and I think 30 bucks or so for one socket... I thought hmmm, wonder if harbor freight has those for like $5... And I was right, they did. :cool:

You'll always pay more for Snap-on or Mac tools, but lemme tell you, when you use them ALL DAY, there is a difference in those tools and the cheaper HF/Sears counterpart. When your paycheck depends on good tools, it's worth the extra money! Shit, if I bought all of my approx. $30k worth of tools and box at HF, I'd prob. only be in for HALF of that, at best! For the side jobber, or occasional wrenching on your own ride on weekends and such, you really can't beat HF for good prices and decent quality tho!

now that i feel sick at the realisation that i've spent twice as much in tools as i did my car, i must go.

Yes, and No, the sleeves are white and removable, and the sockets are anodized the different colors.

And Cory, I agree completely. My garage tools are Craftsman, and my rare use and take to the track, I don't care if they get stolen are HF. If my livelyhood depended on them, they would be Snap-On...

I'll have to go check them out, I can't find the anodized ones on the website. Was it a set or did they have singles?

Set, 17,19,21mm. It may have been the last set though. There was also an interesting set of double sided short sockets with sheaths SAE and metric.

:lol: Trust me, you want *nothing* to do w/ a "Belfast Night"... Joining the "Belfast Club" involves 6 Irish Car Bombs (1/2 pint Guiness w/ a shot of Baileys/Jameson dropped into it, drink it before it curdles) in 60 minutes. It's basically about 10 drinks in an hour, and they're *heavy* and gross.

We had 8 of 'em that night instead of 6. We're *idiots*. I still can't drink a Guiness, which used to be one of my favorite beers. :( I think we made a mistake trying to relive our college days... it turns out there's a good reason college is for the 18-22 year olds. :lol:

I'm still trying to figure out WTH a "Brussels" night is? :lol: Eat a bunch of Belgian Waffles? I can't figure it out.

Anyway, as far as those car bombs, the Canadian Car Bomber is retired, I can't even look at Guiness without loosing it. Good times.
