The official SECCS 2006 baseball thread!

Looks to be a good season shaping up. The A's bounced back from a whooping on Opening day to take 2 of 3 from the Yanks and a 1 game lead over the Los Angeles California Angels of Anaheim Orange County USA. Frank Thomas and Milton Bradley have both hit well and contributed to wins, and Bobby Crosby managed to keep his now-traditional Opening Day injury to a mere 5-6 days off while his finger heals...

On the other side of the bay, Jason Schmidt pitched well but took a loss on Opening day, but Matt Morris shut San Diego down totally. In the West, only the Dodgers are under .500 after the first weekend of play. :D

baseball? too much F1 fantasy to worry about.

Kevin M 2006-04-06 09:52 AM

Wuss. I have 4 fantasy baseball teams going. At times in the past I've had as many as 8. :p

Kevin M 2006-04-06 09:58 AM

It's okay, I have a Miata to make up for it.

Wait, what?

tysonK 2006-04-06 12:18 PM

I just hope the A's do not have a monumental September collapse like they did last season.

And lucky me, I got tickets to the Giants-Dodgers game on Sunday, April 16th for when I will be down at Disneyland.

Kevin M 2006-04-06 02:45 PM

I am WAY tempted to try to pry those tickets from you, but I dunno what time the game starts and that's Easter sunday. If it's a nioght game, I'd probably be interested. How many do you have, and what section?

Edit: Wait, is that game at Chavez Ravine? I think I put 2 and 2 together and got ka5.

That's the day Barry's gonna pass Ruth. Have fun! :D

If Oakland can not suck donkey balls for the first 9 weeks of the season this year, I think late september will be meaningless. Because we all know they're gonna play .750 ball from late June through August. ;)

Yes it is at Chavez ravine (I have never been there yet), 1st base side 1/2 way between first and the foul pole, field level, 13 rows back.

Well if 2 out of 3 from the Yankees opening week is any indication, we should be OK.

The A's have a knack for having solid runs, they seem to do well with all the aged power hitters too, dating back to Dave Kingman, Dave Parker, Stargell, Baylor, and now Frank Thomas. He is already contributing. I have been to two A's world series games, both amazingly against the Reds, one in 72, one in 90. I would love to see them make it back in 06! Their pitching is still strong and Loaiza looks promising, Zito will win his 15-20 games if he stays healthy. We should have a A's Game meet.

Looks like Milwaukee's playoff run is over early this year.

 They thought they were headed to the Series after winning out their first week... then they lose 5 of 6 or whatever and they're headed for the cellar. At least you guys have Sheets back, and he's throwing 96 again. He'll win 15 games if he makes 30 starts, maybe 18.

Kevin M 2006-05-10 02:29 PM

Deja vu for Barry Bonds today. He had home run #660 robbed by Jay Payton a couple years ago, and today Juan Pierre robbed what would have been #714 in San Francisco.
