So I got pulled over last night...
On the way home from the meet, and I didn't even do anything!!!
I'm following NKoan down the on-ramp to I-80 east, and we're at about 45mph according to my speedo. Along the outside of the two of us comes a certain black 06 STI with a big crinkle on the left front fender, (I'm so shitty with new people's names...) hauling ass around the same corner. Well, at the bottom of the ramp, there's some dirt on the outside of the corner, in which said crinkled STI gets the rear end a little loose, right in front of the NHP sitting under the bridge! I watch as the cruiser pulls out of his hole, and up onto the highway behind me. I think to myself, "oops! That STI is gonna get pulled!" But low and behold, as the copper is just about to pass me, I see him look back at MY car, jam his brakes, and hit the lights! Fuck! So he asks if I know why I'm being pulled, to which I reply "no." He tells me I can't be trying to get sideways pulling on to the freeway, and I tell him he's got the wrong car! So after explaining that I was the black car in the REAR of the 3 getting on the highway at that moment, the NHP tells me "Shit! That's my fault! I got the wrong one! I looked back as I almost passed you, and saw the hood scoop and wing, and said 'that's him!' " So, due to my car looking vaguely like an STI, I got pulled over last night, by a cool NHP officer, who said he was very sorry, and after I told him that we're members of a local Subi club, told me that when I see the owner of said crinkled STI, that I need to kick him in the junk and tell him to STOP THAT CRAP! So if you're reading this, (X Active here on the board I believe) wear a cup next time you see me... :D |
That is really f'd up, but really cool of that trooper. I'm pretty impressed that he owned up though and let you go.
Xactive had better watch his ass up there, there is ALWAYS a cop there, dude, you do deserve a nut shot for that one. Cory, at least you didn't have to throw down the race card on this one. |
Hehe, kicking people in the Yam bag is funny. You're lucky Cory, you are black after all. Could've been alot worse
|
Oh, trust me, I had it in hand! ;)
The trooper even said that as he was standing by the car, it was becoming obvious that it wasn't the same one. Different headlights, and wheels, and a 2 door. They're pretty trained to be able to pick out a specific car in a pack of high speed traffic. The hood scoop and wing are the items that threw him off he told me, but I say no harm, no foul, on his part. Just doing his job! |
hahah race card!
Phew glad to hear that you weren't ticketed. Cool NHP officer. |
littering and...
|
Hahaha, that's funny.

Rule number two of SECCS....  And he was lying... It's the hood... Cop sucking carbon fiber hood and the vinyl on the window... |
I generally don't see any issues with divulging information about our club, considering that we are more LEGAL motorsport oriented, as opposed to a gaggle of street racers. Most of us, as Sperry mentioned in another thread at some time, "keep our shirts tucked in" and don't make reasons for police harassment.
I assure that they keep an eye on our board as well, as I know for a fact that the "streetracing task force" here in town lurks about on local car forums and makes note of mention of illegal activities. But I'm pretty sure they see us as not much of a threat, except maybe to eachother :D (see: kick in the junk) Now that Dean has seen Fight Club, I get the feeling that quotes won't be few and far between... |
Whew, I got a call from nkoan, I'm glad you did not get the hammer thrown down on ya.

I think we need a new Magnet that can be assigned to club members for a week when they do something stupid. Maybe... "I'm an Asshat, Kick me in the berries" Or "Asshat behind wheel" If you are caught not displaying said magnet during you penalty week, you get 2 additional weeks... |
I caught the sarcasm, I was just voicing my opinion on the topic since it came up. :D
I think the magnet idea is an interesting one... I was wondering if NKoan saw me! I was right behind him, so I figured he noticed, but wasn't sure! Oh, the violence that would have befallen X Active had I been ticketed for his jackassery... Dear God I'd come UN-GLUED! |

I wasn't at the meet last night, so I haven't met XActive yet. . . but between this and the story of how his fender was damaged, I'm wondering if we won't soon see a black '06 sitting wrecked at Lithia. :(
Personally, I like to take my time leaving the lot at Bully's (changing CDs, getting comfy in my seat for the long ride back home) partially to avoid potential shenanigans like these. |
Haha, he lived up to the quote in his profile. I think it's, "If you aren't sideways, it isn't fast enough!" or somthing.
|
M3n2c3, you've met him. He was at auto-x last weekend, talking to us for a few minutes.
I def. try to mind my P's and Q's in that area especially. I used to live up there, and the police speed trap presence is high. Beyond that, I'm sure the local law enforcement know very well that we meet up there on Thursday nights, and know that many of us have REALLY fast cars, so they keep an eye on us. Even more reason that this kind of stuff should be reguarded as taboo. We don't want to draw negative attention. Like I said, most of us mind our manners pretty well all the time, but we like to have fun in our cars as well! I say, just don't shit in your own yard! |

I think the general position of the board has already been expressed above but I just want to reitterate what's been said, just to make it absolutely clear:
SECCS is not a street racing club, or a "crew", or anything along those lines. We're an Enthusiasts club, which means we're into cars, not into driving like maniacs. Most of our member work very hard and donate enormous amounts of time, energy, and money into helping to provide a legal, safe, local motorsports scene. From autocross, to track trials, to rally... hell, we've even organized circle track driving days. So when someone associated with the club puts our hard work at risk, both physically by endangering others on the road, and/or by furthering the reputation that car clubs are full of street racers and asshats (a reputation that we work extremely hard to dispel), it makes the members of this club extremely upset. Erik, what you do off the public streets is you're own deal. Feel free to take risks alone all you want. But if you insist on driving outside the envelope where it endangers others, or the club's reputation, then the members of this club aren't interested in your participation. Having ridden with you, I know you're a very capable driver. That is unfortunately never an excuse for grossly exceeding the rules of the road. Sure, we all speed on occation, and we all make mistakes on the street now and then... but as far as I know, no one in the club intentionally pushes it to the limit on the street... even a bone stock STI is too fast of a car for that. We take it to the track where there is proper safety equipment and a controlled environment. As one of the founders of this club, I have a responsibility to try to protect our reputation, and as someone that has to share the street with you, I have a right and responsibility to ask that you keep your driving within the limits of safety. But more importantly, and more personally, you have the occation to drive with Lisa in your car. She is extremely important to me. If you are driving as you were driving last night with her in the car, then you and I will have a very big problem. Feel free to consider me an asshole for saying these things, or call me a square or a pussy because I won't look the other way when people take unnecessary risks. But shit does happen, and sometimes it doesn't just happen to the other guy, sometimes you're the one that gets bit in the ass. I've lost friends on the road, and I guarentee most of the members on this board have lost friends or family on the road. Simply driving from point A to B is dangerous enough, why add to the risk? Especially when there are plenty of venues to drive at where the risks are calculated risks. I have to say, I'm thankfull last night's situation was simply a cool cop pulling Cory over and letting him go when he realized the mistake. It could have very easily been a black STI piled into Nick's Legacy and Cory's RS... and all the associated mess that would have gone with that. Something like that in all likelyhood would destroy the club, and I intend to do what I can to prevent something like that from happening. |
cliffs?
