I wasn't here for the race in the Hilton parking lot so I hope this happens:

Grand Prix on the Streets of Downtown Reno in 2009

They're hoping for the checkered flag to drop during the summer of 2009 which should give them enough time to create interest. Special events are only allowed to apply for permits two years in advance. That means Reno-Tahoe Grand Prix organizers have another year to get their ducks in a row. In the meantime, they'll be working on fundraising.

On the TV blurb they mentioned IRL and CART, not F1.

I'd be more happy with ALMS or Grand-Am. This group contacted the Reno SCCA for support, but they really have no direction as of yet. Regardless, I hope we get some races again, Reno GP years ago was great.

Are these the guys with the scam website, no associate race series, no money, and a job posting for "someone to pretty much do the whole job of getting a major race series event on the streets of Reno"?

I'll believe it when I see it.
