Valet Mode, AKA: Why Matt's lights don't blink with the remote

Page 2-17 of the 2004 owners manual...

Blah blah blah... "To exit valet mode, open the drivers door and keep the 'UNLCK/DISARM' button pressed for mor than 2 secconds. The indicator will stop flashing"

P.S. Have you calibrated your compass lately?

Extra Credit Question: What compass zone are we in?

MattR 2006-05-05 05:49 AM

You are correct sir.. did you know it, or have to look it up?

And based on your description, I have no interest watching you switch your car into valet mode. :D

Did the seatbelt trick work for you Eric?

Some people say it resets easily, and doesn't always stick.

I found this out when I drove it So Cal and it was not working so great and found it was set from the factory zone 3 ;)

How do you change the zone? Or do I even want to know (the instructions tell you to open all four doors 3 times in 10 seconds, sit down, buckle in and do a chinese fire drill and depending whoever buckles their seatbelt first determines the zone)

Hold the right button for three seconds. Zone should be displayed. Tap the right button until the desired zone is displyed. wait until it goes away.

For even more accuracy, you can calibrate it after selecting the zone. I'm not sure, but I think that is hold the left switch for 3 seconds and CAL is displayed. Drive in very slow circles (2-3) with as many electric/electronic accesories turned off in the middle of an empty flat parking lot until it returns to displaying the compas heading.

That's right for most cars. People look at you funny when they find you in a church parking lot driving in little circles in a brand new Maxima. (from experience )

There's a button inside cylindar 3 to set the compass zone.

Man, you guys must have the cheap-o mirrors. To calibrate mine, and to set the zone, you plug it in and drive in a circle, and it figures it out.
