Driving with no Rear Sway

Would it be a bad idea to drive my car without any rear swaybar for a few days? I'm trying to workout a trade.

Dean 2006-06-01 04:04 PM

It will feel weird, but should be OK... Be carefull.

cody 2006-06-01 04:07 PM

Yah, I will have to drive nice and easy for sure. I was thinking of setting the rear AGX's at full stiff and the fronts at full soft to compensate. The setting on the AGX's honestly doesn't make a huge difference, but would that help compensate?

Dean 2006-06-01 04:11 PM

Yes. I forgot you had adjustable shocks. Crank the rears up and leave the fronts alone.

cody 2006-06-01 04:13 PM

I've got them all at 3 right now.

1=softest
4=stiffest

So when you say leave the fronts alone, I'd be more inclined to set them at 1. Should I compromise and set them at 2?

Kevin M 2006-06-01 04:15 PM

Cranking up the struts is to compensate for the handling, but will kil the ride. I would say just drive a little slower and "softer" until you get the new bar. Or see if somebody here has a loaner available.

cody 2006-06-01 04:16 PM

Honestly 4 really isn't that stiff, so ride quality isn't a concern for me.

SlickNick112 2006-06-01 04:44 PM

What bar are you getting?

AtomicLabMonkey 2006-06-01 05:05 PM

It will be fine, it will just understeer and roll a bit more.

Sweet. I figured as much.

I'm getting a Perrin adjustable with the older style upgraded mounts.

Just don't get into an accident (don't want anybody pointing fingers at your 'missing sway bar').

A1337STI 2006-06-01 07:08 PM

Nice on the swaybar upgrade :)

Well I was all stoked cuz his post said, "Perrin adjustable rear sway bar: Perfect Condition. Includes perrin mounts. Would need your stocker in return, so no shipping. I'm in the tri-state area. $100"

But now he wants $35 for shipping. He meant litteraly, "no shipping". Plus I'd have to pay to ship a 17mm bar to him, so I'm passing on it. :(

A1337STI 2006-06-01 07:12 PM

Weak :( maybe just throw him out an offer and see if he takes it

cody 2006-06-01 07:16 PM

He says he's got local buyers lining up. :(

A1337STI 2006-06-01 07:27 PM

Uber Lame

Kevin M 2006-06-01 09:09 PM

Yeah, nobody ships used sway bars. Totally not worth the hassle. Also, "no means no" dude.

cody 2006-06-01 10:20 PM

I bought my 20mm bar used from a Dude in NJ years ago. He hooked me up too. No Means No is cool.

I think I paid $35 shipped for my 20mm bar a few years ago. I think the guy that sold it to me paid almost $20 for shipping, so he didn't make out very well.

JonnydaJibba 2006-06-02 07:13 AM

I never had a rear sway on my L...

Kevin M 2006-06-02 07:43 AM

Yeah but your spring rates were meant to work without it.

I paid $50 shipped, but it came with all the hardware and a K&N drop in in almost new condition.
