Do people still do that?
Today some dude cam by and he was collecting donations for House numbers that were painted on the curbs that afternoon. I didn't know about the painting.
The dude: "Hi sir we are collecting donations for the house numbers painted on curbs today, everyone's was done" Me: "Oh yeah I donated to a guy like 20 minutes who came to my door" The dude: "Really what did he look like? I think you may have paid the wrong person" me: "yah sounds like a scam." dude: "Yeah I'm sorry to hear that, would you still be able to donate" me: "not really." |
The very concept of donating money to someone because my address was painted on the street curb kinda blows my mind.

I thought the city payed for that?

me being a member of a non-profit organization (Active 20-30 International), I have to deal with stuff like that a lot. People who have never heard of the organization have a hard time understanding that their donations go to the better good of the community.
Tyson, I think you did the right thing. |
I would tell him that I want either $50 from him to remove the address or ask him to get a power washer and get to work.
Man in California we put the address numbers on the house! |
I like the curb numbering, 'cause when you're looking for an address they're all there in the same place, rather than posted who knows where on the house in some fancy-pants font without any lights at night.
As far as a donation, I'd give 'em $5 'cause that's how much it'd cost me to do myself. |
