Wheel box help

I need to ship a single wheel, does anybody have a leftover box that you could part with? It's a 17x7 Prodrive P1. If nobody has one, does anybody know of a place where I could get an 18x18x8 or very similar but slightly larger sized box? Too bad I don't work at Anixter still, we had 18x18x10s there. :(

There's a butt-load of boxes stacked up next to the dumpster out back here. If there's not the right size one, I'm sure you could cut up and tape a larger one into the right size...

Cutting up + taping = denied insurance claims if UPS b0rks it though. Personal experience on that one. But anything relatively close to the size I need will work.

Stop by Sid's... He usually has a bunch lying around.

If you cut and tape well enough, you've essentially just built a new box... Eh, it was just a thought... last ditch effort if you don't find anything else. Lemme know.

Oh I agree, I can build a perfectly serviceable box. But UPs will seize any excuse to save money by not paying a claim, and I've had them use that one on me before... on a $1400 Vishnu turboback.

Almost everytime I'm at Tires Unlimited on Kietzke I see empty wheel boxes in the dumpster. Any shop that sells rims will probably have some laying around if you ask.

I've got boxes full of boxes.

Are any of them 18x8x8 or slightly larger in any dimension? I promised the guy I'd get this out by thursday or friday. And he made me specify this week. :( :p

Pat R. 2006-07-11 02:53 PM

Yep

Kevin M 2006-07-11 03:14 PM

Sweet, I'll stop by at lunch tomorrow to dig through them. Thanks man.
