Cool things to do in Vancouver ?
 

Howdy.

So i have to go to vancouver , BC from the 26th to the 29th for a work retreat . (my company is moving to canada) :( I should get some freetime though during this trip to check out the city. Not sure if there are any cool motor sports related events up there that weekend. or just some sights that in general must be seen.

One thing that shocked me about Canada is the STI is about 50K candian (plus their 15% sales tax) :huh: I priced out a WRX with a few options and it came out to 36K or 32K american. :huh:

You have to move?

I'm not even sure yet. I was promised by the CEO a few months ago , that no matter what i could keep my job and he would keep an office in tahoe for me to work out of. Now Via HR i've been told that we either Move to canada , or get laid off.

I don't 'have' to move, but I may have to move if i want to keep my current job.

Its been a large point of stress for me , so far i've mostly been in denial. I'm 28 and i've been with the same company for 9 years. Lots of experiance at what i do, but no experiance finding/changing jobs.

That's life I suppose. I'm going to try to check out Vancouver with an open mind and see if i really would prefer to live there, than Tahoe.

At least it puts my car troubles in perspective. :~:

The cool thing to do in Vancouver is be cold. That's all I know. And I've never been there!

So you can't do whatever you do now with a different company here?

Ya i'm sure I can find a new job . I just do Web/DB programming with ecommerce (I personally handle all of the company's income (rebills/signups) - scary eh?) . Maybe not right in lake tahoe but around the Tahoe/Reno area definatly.

I also do a lot of sidework for ridelaketahoe.com Ecommerce pages there , some DB driven conent , blah blah , typical web monkey stuff :) , something I need to add to my resume though

I think i'll have to pass on any jobs teaching grammer/ spelling though :( :lol:

I'm thinking of checking out whistler. and maybe hitting up a few museums. Guess i'll just hit up their tourism website for recomended things to do. :lol:
