Those are awesome. Bring on the video!
The video will come in the next couple days buddy. Prepare to laugh...
You know everyone here hates you right? Those are some nice rides. I like that boxy little Maserati coupe. And the roof intake on that Porsche is unreal.
Hahaha, how old do you think that guy was? The one who flipped you off.
Those are some sweet cars, but I don't see any pictures of your E30.
I didn't take my E30 out there but here is a picture of my E30 just for you Bobby.

You should have lied to me and told me it was that blue one.
That's not very believable but yes, the blue one is mine too.
Sweetness. E30?
Sorry for slacking on the video. I should have it up this weekend.

I've got 3/4 of the video done. I should have it up on youtube tomorrow! |
I got kind of sick of looking at this footage so I uploaded what I had to youtube just to share.
The first link was the intro I was working on. It's not all that great but it was my first time editing video. The second link is unedited track footage; ten minutes of me puttsin' around the ring. Just for clarification, the camera man is a sheltered Mustang owner that likes TFATF way too much. He's a co-worker... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YjZdmwPPyvo http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Sn8zWGQp9g |
I must play too much GT4... I knew you guys were going over that kerb like 10 seconds before it happened.
That thing really just jumps out at you! I couldn't even see it before it was too late.

That section is the chicane at Adenauer Forst. You run downhill from the bridge after the Aremberg turn ("that looks like a hairpin"). It's almost flat out down through the trees, then you climb back up the hill. At the top of the hill it's a blind left, into a tightening right hander that cuts left into a hard 2nd gear left/right chicane. You need to really trail brake the right hander leading to the chicane, so you can turn left w/o hitting the kerb, and accelerate out of the following right and have a run for the following flat out sections. Like I said, I play way too much GT4... I can pretty much figure out where I am on the ''ring by watching only 2 or 3 corners. And I've never been there! |
How bad freakin ass was it drivin on that after you've spent so many hours on videogame versions of it?
It was seriously awesome. I caught myself more in awe than thinking about driving quick or safe, as you can tell...

However, I have driven at Laguna Seca (me and qksubi did a 2 day HPDE there last year), at which I've got easily 10,000 miles on various computer games/sims. The whole time I was really scared that in my head I'd drop into "video game mode" where sliding off the track isn't a big deal. What surprised me the most was that the games are really very accurate when it comes to the track layout and sight-lines... What's not at all accurate is how late you can brake in the game vs. real life. In GT4, you can wait 'till you're past halfway between the bridge and T2 before braking, while in real life, you're on the brakes just after you crest the T1 hill. Some of the better simulators are more accurate, but none of them really convey the sense of speed down the hill towards T2, or the steepness of the cork-screw. Edit: I just realized that wasn't a reply to my post. |

Laguna is another track I'd love to drive someday. A much more obtainable goal as well. How weird is that word? Obtainable, it only gets more weird the more you say it. Obtainable. Ub-tane-able. Man I'm having a rough time posting today. |
I can't wait until I see some footage of a somewhat faster silver subaru. I'm expecting it now...
