Anybody Going Sac -> Reno this week?(Fender Roller)

Sybir got the fender roller back finally and I could really use it this week, but can't make the trip right now.

Anybody driving from/through Sac to Reno area that might consider doing the transportation.

I would chip in for gas, or Bully's dinner Thurs...

JonnydaJibba 2007-01-22 01:38 PM

I'll be going to and from SF on Sunday. I can drop buy if necessary.

Dean 2007-01-22 01:50 PM

I was hoping for earlier in the week. Thanks for offering, I'll let you know.

JonnydaJibba 2007-01-22 02:00 PM

Ok well, you got somebody to fall back on if nothing else works otu.

Cheaper than gas, and works just as good for light fender clearing. I paid like $12 for a wood bat that I used to fit EVO wheels on the SVX. It's not like you need 2" of clearance, right?

ummm ^ Ghetto???

sybir 2007-01-22 02:59 PM

Nah, a bat has worked for years, and does a fine job if you take your time.

Dean 2007-01-22 03:00 PM

If I can't get the "tool", I may resort to the bat... That double thick rear fender lip is a tough mother though.

Dude it works if you take your time, like they said. It's also much cheaper than renting or buying a roller.

sybir 2007-01-22 03:05 PM

Dean, do you have an '04 or an '05?

If you have an '05, the only thing you'll accomplish using my roller is fucking up the wheel. It's way too beefy and has no edge to bend up so all you do is gouge the urethane. Trust me, I tried it on Dave's car and we ended up clearancing the inner fender lip with a rubber mallet.

Some of the best fender work I've done was with the handle of a big-ol' Craftsman crescent wrench and the side of my Sport Cups at the track. Then I pulled the tire off and did some "finish work" with a hammer to clean up the lumps. It was actually way less work than using the roller tool... 'course at the track I was like "fuck this fender, I don't care what it looks like, I need these damn tires to fit!".

The tool doesnt work on the STI's believe me Aaron and I went at the fender for close to an hour with the fender roller and it did nothing. You need to use a rubber mallet and just "NASCAR" your fenders
