Im Back!!!!! well kinda...

Hey guys! i haven't been around since December and I just rolled back in late last night. I have been out on tour for the past month and a half, up to Canada 3 times, Colorado twice, Washington, Oregon, Vermont, Wisconsin (to visit the family in between races). Its been pretty sweet being on the road, but its also nice to be home, even if its only for 2 1/2 days.

My race season has sucked though, at the X-Games Qualifiers I was in teh lead and my race deck snapped in the middle of a turn, 7 days later in Canada I snapped another (same kind of turn and identical break), and now the last 4 races I have been in I haven't made it to bracket racing because of crashes in time trials. Hopefully, this weekend things will take a turn for the better.

I can't wait to get down to a meet again. I have some cash saved up and will finally be putting some cash into the car. New Tires, FSB, Coilovers, windshield, strut braces and finally fix my oil temp sensor. I want to make this car corner just as well as my last one if not better.

you need a board made of carbonfibreglass, it's undefeatable.

I came into this thread all ready to ask how boardercrossers can get laid off.

The decks snaping sucks. Was it a bad batch, or a design flaw?

titanium?

Too bad you've had the string of bad luck, hopefully that's all to change for the better soon.

The decks have a beech/poplar core, and the rest is 100% carbon construction. Carbon fiber is weaker because of the glass fibers in it. Both broken boards are in Austria with Hansel Kessler (WC ski and snowboard designer) and the head engineer being cut apart. Out of all the decks made, I am the only person to break them so I am in close contact with the company right now to figure out what happened. However, my practice deck (which is identical) has been thru easily 3x the abuse and hasn't failed yet.

Huh? By Carbon, do you mean Carbon Fiber? CF <> Fiberglass. The fibers are carbon, not glass. Unless there is a defect, the CF + resin should be much stronger than the wood core, and the sandwich of the two should be insanely strong.

My guess is there was some sort of delamination or flaw in either the core, or the CF. based on what you are saying, I'm betting both cores were cut from the same peice of ply and share the same flaw in the plys of the core. Be interesting to hear what it ends up being.

Glad it hasn't happened again.

Im happy it hasnt either, or i'd be without a deck. There are absolutely none left in the US, and they are now on teh prowl to find a replacement for the broken one over in Europe.
