I wanna go wingless

To indulge my wingless desires. I think everyone has seen my wing
In about a week or so it will have a carbon fiber insert similar to that of a stock evo wing. Once I get that I would like to trade someone for a PSM wingless trunk + plus some cash, or without the carbon fiber insert if someone would rather it be all painted. I also have the stock wrx wing I would just throw in because im a nice guy. If you know of anyone who would be interested that would be awesome.:)

Kevin M 2007-03-12 07:36 PM

Er... didn't you get sponsored for that wing?

Can't you only trade stuff that's yours?

Having a comnpay give you a free kit, paintmatched, and then ripping off the sponsor decals and parts of it immediately is in extremely poor taste, and an affront to the company that chose you as a representative. Not cool.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-13 07:28 AM

wow... First off, the company needed a car to test fit the wing and then they wanted to take pictures of it on a car. If you all remember the wing was originally blue. I told them that my friend had a blue wrx and they should put it on his car. They said no no no "we will paint it to match your car and you can have it for letting us use your car. So I said cool. They even said to me "dude the second were done if you wanna take that sticker off thats totally cool", but I do have loyalty. They had my car for over 3 weeks in total since they decided to make a lip kit for it. Thats my only daily driver so for 3 weeks I had to borrow other cars to go to work. They GAVE me all that stuff for allowing them to have my car and for me to take pictures of. They offered to repaint my front bumper because when they took the mould off, it ripped a bunch of paint off the front of my car. Once they have all the pictures of the wing that they need, my obligation to them is fulfilled. As you see I still have the sticker on there and another one is going on the front.
I am paying for a carbon fiber insert and I am keeping the lip kit. I still may choose to keep the wing depending on how i like it with the carbon. Needless to say, the wing belongs to me, it was payment for giving them my car and taking pictures for them. None of you know what andy and I talked about, and none of you know whats going on. So I would love if the presumptuous swarm of angry bees would get off my back.

The fact that you're so defensive is a good indication that you know it's "in poor taste" to ditch the "free" stuff you just got. No one said what you're doing is "illegal" or outside your agreement with Kaminari, we're just saying that it looks like you're trying to turn a profit on the wing without regard to how it looks for Kaminari.

Let me put it another way: I was originally contacted about the wing via some friends in the SCCA. Because I knew the wing wasn't something I'd leave on my car for the race season, I turned it down and passed it to the SECCS board so someone that wanted it could have the opportunity. I very easily could have "just taken pictures" of the car with the wing and sold it the next week, but I thought someone else could have used the hookup.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-13 09:20 AM

I wanted the wing, thats why I responded. Andy told me that I was the ONLY person who did. And as I said before I told them of a friend of mine who they could put it on his car instead of mine. So since I got the wing that means its mine for life to sport on my car? Have you ever changed your mind about something? If they want it back I would gladly give it. The reason I was defensive is because 4 people who know absolutely nothing of the situation started hounding me. I would like a wingless trunk, Kaminari cant supply me with one so thats why I posted here. And turn a profit?? Im not in anything to turn a profit, you dont even know how much I wanted for it. If someone wanted to trade straight up for it thats fine, I just felt that its worth something since it cost me a lot of my time being without my only car for 3 weeks. And you of all people should understand that Scott.

Edit: and I am very grateful to you for posting the hookup on this forum.

I do know that you responded to my post about the offer nearly immediately. I'm guessing by the time anyone else saw it, they would have assumed the deal was all set, as it basically was. You were the only person that Kaminari talked to because you were the first person.

And I'm not scolding you for changing your mind, or because I think Kaminari cares one way or the other. I understand that they probably already got what they wanted out of the deal... the pictures they needed and the molds for a new kit.

But, you have to admit, from the looks of things, you're unhappy about the wing for some reason. By at least trading straight-up for a wingless trunk, you at least don't look like you're profiteering off the deal.

As far as understanding being without my car... I've never been without a car for more than a day. The WRX was in the shop for like a year, but I have the SVX. And when they're both broken, I drive the truck. I wouldn't make a deal to be without my car if I didn't have a backup plan... or if I did, I wouldn't complain about it, because I knew going in that was part of the deal. They had to tell you that the body kit was going to take a while... plus, if I remember correctly, you were supposed to be out of town during that time anyway... no?

Bottom line is: if you weren't sure about making the deal, you should have given others the chance to take Kaminari up on the offer that would have appreciated it more. By at least trading straight up with someone for the wing, you'll be kinda doing that. But really it's up to you... I'm not trying to tell you what to do, I'm just trying to tell you how it's perceived.

I "know a guy" who got a set of wheels from a group of people, in return for services that he provided them on a cheap or free basis, simply out of his willingness to help. The group was very appreciative, and wanted to pay him back, so they bought him something he'd REALLY like in return. This, to me, is the same as that guy turning around and selling those wheels to someone else. It's kind of a "spit in the face" of the person/people who gave them to you.

Don't get all super-defensive Juice. You posted your thoughts on a PUBLIC internet forum, and thus, if someone has a differing opinion, they will likely express it. That's how it works...

Kevin M 2007-03-13 10:00 AM

Yeah... if you decide you don't like it, it would sure look better if you just gave it to someone in exchange for a trunk/wing you liked better.

That guy's probably a fruit.  But that is a good analogy I think for this situation.

Not that you care, but because of what Cory just said I'll tell you anyway. I think that wing looks badass... for a wing. And with that lip on your car it looks even better. Very unique. But of course it's your car.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-13 10:33 AM

fuck. Everyone quit trying discover my "true intentions". {"from the looks of things, you're unhappy about the wing for some reason."} I really like the wing, I just like wingless better for some reason now and since its my car I think I should be able to choose. If I took the deal from someone else I am sorry you can have it.

Let me explain a little more about my post. Scott When I said "you should understand that more then anyone" I wasn't referring to being without a car, I was referring to the time when your svx got hit and you wanted them to pay you $50 for your time. Second the lip kit was NEVER part of the deal. They were suppose to install the wing while I was in Mexico and have it ready when i got back. When I came back to get my car there was a mould on the car that I didn't expect. So instead of demanding that I get my car back I let them continue to use the car so they could get the mould the way THEY wanted it. I never asked for any of that. So i am really sorry for how i am "perceived".

Scott you have pm.

These words, specifically, are what has made people believe that you've decided that you don't like the wing, and that you want to make a profit. Now, it may not have been your initial purpose to make a profit off the wing when you first got it, there's no way for any of us to know what you were thinking then, but when you shortly there-after turn around and try to make $ from getting rid of it, it gives off an air of "I only wanted this so I could turn around and sell it..." If that's not the case, GOOD! Nobody's trying to put words in your mouth, just responding to what you said yourself.

M3n2c3 2007-03-13 03:44 PM

Yeah, it seems to me that the issue is the "plus some cash" part.

Juice, I think what everyone else is trying to say is that - seeing as how the wing was technically free - you might receive a warmer response to your trade request if you simply spring for an even swap. Wanting a change is ok; everyone does it. But there really shouldn't be a reason for you to look for extra cash out of the deal. Everyone here knows that you got it for free, so it's really unfair to those who may be interested in it.

100_Percent_Juice 2007-03-13 04:42 PM

I apologize for all the confusion
