When I was looking to move to Boston, we were going to ship a vehicle there. It was gonna cost about $1000-1200 to ship on a carrier. There are several companies that do it, but I haven't found any method that was cheaper yet.

There are tons of shipping companies. Make sure you do your research, look at reviews, check for BBB complaints, etc. There are a lot of shady operators. The best you can do is check them out the best you can, choose one that looks good, and roll the dice.

The truck was a day late with our Corolla when we moved to NC, but at least it was ok. Better than our furniture which was weeks late & broken.

Last year I looked into shipping a car to Kansas for nationals, the cost estimates were coming back avg of $1,200 round trip; and depending on the shipper, there can be additional rules for shipping (i.e. can't store anything in the car; someone must be present when the carrier arrives with the car to accept delivery - which can be +/- some number of days). You can google for carriers, and maybe Matt or someone else can tell you, of your list, which ones may be more reliable etc.
Or, hire a driver.

No kidding, it's expensive..

I think I estimated about the same, even if I was renting a dolly to tow it myself...

How far and when?

I keep wondering if I can get any kind of discount if I ship 2+ cars..

Depot to depot is cheaper since they don't have to come to your final destination, and you drop it off at their location.

I think there are comparison web sites and ones that will get you many quotes kind of like Lending tree for loans.

DAS shipped my EVO, I was satisfied. It was clearly they had nudged something with the front end but it "buffed right out."
