Truck Tires
Liz's truck tires are about to look like a set of hoosier race tires here in the next couple of weeks. I know a bunch of guys have trucks and she wanted me to ask if anyone had any recomendations of where and what to buy. She does alot of towing and needs something that is going to stand up to the abuse.

If she has the money to spend, the Toyo Open Country is super nice, but pricey. Eric just ppicked up a set of BFG's, not sure what style though.
|
My parents run BFG AT KOs. They are great so far and have lasted a lot longer than I thought (~40k and going strong).

What kind of truck, what kind of use?
Snow use? Off-Road? While Tirerack dosen't do many test on LT tires, their quiz does a pretty good job narrowing you down. For highway all seasons, Yokohama makes some good stuff for cheap... |
2006 Dodge Ram 2500 Turbo Diesel Quad Cab... She drives roughly 30,000 miles in it a year and does alot of towing of the horse trailer.
|
I'd go with the 10-ply Toyo Open Country. They are great for heavier applications, but still work great in snow and muck.
|
Tire Rack is running a special on Pirelli's, so that might be what she goes with. If she had the extra cash, she would totally take the Toyo's, but I don't think its gonna be a viable option for her budget.

Pirellis are good stuff. Pirellis on sale rock.
Based on your use description, I assume you are looking at the Highway Scorpion STR A. For just over $100 each for the 265/70-17s, go for it... |
