Here's what I did instead of racing this weekend...

...picnic table FTW!

It's 8'x3', unfinished redwood. Eventually we'll sand it and at least seal it, if not stain it darker red.

I started with a Google Sketchup drawing. Hit up Lowe's drive thru for about $150 in redwood. The build took about 4 hours. Now, it's picnic time!

That's pretty sweet dude! Nice job!

MattR 2007-05-27 07:06 PM

Sweet!

Plans for mods?

Dean 2007-05-27 07:28 PM

Those L brackets don't look like they use the stock pick up points... Welcome to Prepared... :)

Nice, are benches next???

Actually, since he built the whole frame from scratch, that's Modified. :p

Benches = splinter butt according to Lisa. So we'll just stick w/ the 6 plastic chairs.

van 2007-05-27 09:12 PM

nice setup

Nick Koan 2007-05-27 09:26 PM

Benches plus a lot of lacquer (and lots of continuous care) prevents splinter butt, but if Lisa doesn't like them there is really no point in worrying about it.

The table looks nice though. So, whens the inaugural BBQ?

wrxkidid 2007-05-27 09:40 PM

probably the same time as your house warming party..

BOO 2007-05-27 11:19 PM

Thompson's water seal FTW!!

tysonK 2007-05-28 08:19 PM

scott that table was nice, the sap got me a couple times.

sperry 2007-05-29 09:25 AM

Yeah, the hot sun in the day made the sap leak a bit out of the raw wood. I'm gonna let it dry out a little more, then get around to sanding it then staining/sealing it. You just gotta watch your arms and legs for the meantime.

Oooh, can I play? I spent the last week and all weekend laying a pea gravel patio behind our house. Leveling dirt.. trenching & laying borders.. shoveling, moving & spreading base material.. spraying down & tamping.. shoveling, moving & spreading pea gravel.. and it's still not finished. Goddammit.

Some of the neighbor kids came over to help for a while.. and do I look like I've been in North Cackalacky too long?

Sure they aren't your kids/sisters/nieces? That would be appropriate to your outfit as well. ;)

tysonK 2007-05-29 06:23 PM

look how many yard cars you could fit in the front yard area!

not to mention the driveway.

I'm pretty sure I remember seeing Austin wearing those shorts at the gym circa 1998.
