? install a high flow cat in my catless exhaust

my current exhaust is total catless 3" and I would like to install a high flow cat to reduce both noise and black soot on my back bumper. What are some good choices that are reasonably priced? and where would be the best place in the exhaust to install the cat... downpipe?

I'd put it in the mid pipe under the car where the largest stock one is.

ok, does it really matter if I get a cat with a heatshield? There are 2 that I am looking at for $170-160. The pacesetter has a metal core vs the ceramic core of the Dynatech. I am leaning in the direction of the metal core. Input...

The two that look good to me are:
Dynatech

and Pacesetter

I'd vote for a shield for a primarily street car... I think you want one with an O2 sensor bung as well if you are going to put one on.
