car wont start
i have an 05 sti and when i go to try and start it wont do anyting but click. i have power for the radio and stuff but it acts like when u try to turn the key to start without the clutch in. if i shake the car or just keep trying it will eventually start. i thought it was the ground but i put a new one on and it didnt help. any ideas what it could be?

Dead battery, or sticky clutch switch.

I don't think it is his battery because when it finaly starts, it starts up strong. I did not think about the clutch switch but wouldn't it stick down (engaged) if that's what it is. I'm not sure how those switches work though.
BTW I'm a friend that took a look at it today. |
Could it be a faulty starter?
|
^Hells yeah. I shit you not, bang on the starter with a hammer. If it starts after singular or repeated bangings, :liljon: you've found your problem.
|
+1 banging on the starter. If it won't start, and you can have someone hold the key in the start position, reach down to the starter and smack the solenoid with something hard. If it gets it going, you needs a new one.

You know that just might be it, because if you shake like you're having a seizure inside it will start. The only other thing I think it could be is his turbo timer wiring, but that's been in there since april.
