Need a new tire....

So this morning has been a verrrry long morning :( .
I was driving to work and went over a railroad track and my tire blew. It took out a gash on the side wall so it's not fixable. So I was wondering if anyone has any Kumho Ecsta MX for sale.

Size? And you'll need one very close in tread depth to the other 3, so you might want to measure that as well.

if you go to a used tire place like HOOTIN don't tell them its for a subaru. I tried to get a tire (even one of the same tread depth) and they wouldn't sell me a tire because its AWD. So I went to the place under the freeway and they sold me a good tire, same brand as mine for $40.

It's 225/45/17. I just bought them about 2 or 3 months ago and auto crossed on them twice ...so they're still pretty good...i'll have to check them when i get back up to reno tonight.

I have 6 RT-615's in that size that you can have for free. They have varrying amounts of tread left. Between 25% and 15% I'd say. Most are "barely legal". I don't recommend them for anything other than dry roads. Oh, and one has a chunk of metal in the tread but could be plugged.

Dude, it's October and you're offering someone a set of bald summer-only tires?

cody 2007-10-12 10:18 AM

I wasn't going to offer, but then I noticed that her current tires are super high performance summer tires too.

Emboyoyo 2007-10-12 10:21 AM

Thanks for the offer but I should just try to get the Kuhmo's for cheap somewhere cause i'm trying to sell my car right now...

Luckily she has a second set of rims with snow tires mounted. Good luck Emily. I felt bad this morning when you called to let me know, as there wasnt much I could do to help you out.

Yeah thanks! It's okay...right now I just want to find kuhmo tire and then sell this car...it's just too stressful right now :(

If you can't find a used one, throw a new one on there. If the tread is more than 3-4/32nds different, Sunshine can shave it down to the same depth.

Emboyoyo 2007-10-16 08:46 AM

Do I took the tire off my rim and it looks like a spike or something in the railroad went right threw and took a little chunk out of my rim :(
At least it was the think part of metal though!!

cody 2007-10-16 08:51 AM

Sucks. I wonder if some kids found a railroad spike and wedged it in the tracks for "fun" or something.

MPREZIV 2007-10-16 09:48 AM

It almost looks like that! There's a hole big enough to put your finger through on the sidewall of that sucker! And a decent hit inside of the rim, but not enough to damage the integrity of the rim I'd say. And that poor tire still has 7/32" tread left too!
