Alpine 9835, Xtant amps, ED subs and more...

I'm selling my Alpine 9835 due to changing to another deck. It has been great to me and hopefully it will find a good home here. It's in great condition and comes with everything, box, manual, remote, trim ring and wire harness. Great deck to go active, and the Biolite display really kicks ass. It is listed on eBay but I will end the auction early for local guys.
SOLD

Next are 2 matching Xtant amps, a 202M and 121M. The 202M I recently purchased from a DIYMA member, it's in great shape and includes a high pass module. It's rated at 50x2 or 200x1, and it's probably underrated like most Xtants. The 121M is a mono amp rated at 125w @4 ohms and 250w @ 2 ohms. It has a built in defeatable crossover. The stainless cover on this one is scratched up a bit, some metal polish would probably clean it up nicely.
202M - $70, 121M SOLD

Prices don't include shipping if you happen to not be local.

I do, but they are a brand you've probably never heard of. Bravox CS60K, they have kevlar cones on the mids and aluminum tweeters. They are very nice speakers though, I ran them for about 6 months or so. They are sitting in the original box still in my garage, if you are interested shoot me a PM. Here's a link to the Bravox page, just click on the CS60K model to see the specs. Retail on these was originally like $400, I paid $220 used for them. I'd sell them for $150.

With that retail price, I assume they're great speakers. Do they have good strong mids? I only get low bass from my sub, so I'd like a nice full sound up front. Tinny treble hurts my ears.

I was very impressed with them personally, I think the mids and highs were both very nice on these. I didn't find the tweeters harsh at all. The reason I switched is because I'm a ridiculous car stereo whore and I can't keep anything for very long without trying something new. If you want, buy them and try them out with the option to return them. If you don't like them, and you don't somehow destroy them I'll buy them back from you.

I told my girlfriend I was a burrito whore the other day and she just looked at me funny. Stupid internet making me talk weird.

I'll take 'em Khail. Going to the meet this week?

Yeah, I have to be careful using the word "whore" around my house as well. Wifey no likey.

I doubt I'll be at the meet (as usual), I can bring them to work with me one of these days or I could meet you somewhere on my lunch break. Whatever works for you.

Khail, I'm temped on that deck... I've got what I think is a very similar Alpine deck in my SVX (but I can't remember the model number). It's got the same built in amp, but it has no LCD screen, and has that god-awful touch-strip instead of the buttons they went back to.

What are the chances that deck will be plug-n play w/ all my current wiring/XM/i-Pod stuff?

Sounds like you have a 9853, it's basically the same deck with Glidetouch added and without the Biolite display. I never liked the Glidetouch thing, but other than that Alpine has always made solid decks. If yours is a 985* model, it is one year newer than the 9835 and I'm pretty sure it would plug right in to everything. I've never used XM though, so I'm not 100% sure. I have had one local (low) offer from someone on eBay, but I don't know how serious he is. So let me know, I'm sure we can work something out.

That looks like the one I've got. I'm PMing you.

khail19 2007-10-23 07:47 PM

Alpine going to Scott. Thanks man!

cody 2007-10-31 12:25 PM

Thanks for the hook up Khail. The Bravox speakers are a defininite upgrade. I think I found out why my old speakers were ratteling though. The screws that hold them in had come loose. You'd think I would have checked that. If anyone is interested in some cheap lightweight 6.25" Kenwood Exceleron Dual Mag components, let me know.

Kevin M 2007-10-31 01:20 PM

How cheap? I have doodoo OEM fronts in my wagon... and that's it. :( Well, at least it's the "upgrade" ones with tweeters up on the doors, but still.

Good to hear that you like them! Do you like the tweeters better? Did you end up using the 0db or the +3db setting?

cody 2007-10-31 03:29 PM

I do like the tweeters better. I just wish I could have figured out how to surface mount them flat to the stock bracket. I ended up using the bevel mount and the door cards are pushing up against them a bit, but I think it's fine. They sound better for sure though. I used the 0db setting and I think it's perfect. :)

How about $50? These are componenets (seperate tweeters). They have crossovers that let you turn the gain on the tweeters to one of 3 gain settings (0db, 2db, 4db IIRC). They sound fine, are super light weight, don't require thick spacers (maybe don't require any spacers?) but they don't produce much in the way of bass.

If you ever want to redo it, just take the mounting cups off completely. You can use some hot glue or double sided tape and stick the tweeter directly to the bracket. It won't harm the tweeter at all being mounted like that.

cody 2007-10-31 05:40 PM

I should have done that. Thanks.

I need something with a little bit of bass since these will be the only source unfortunately.

Message me tomorrow Kevin, I might have some components that will work for you.

I didn't know anybody bothered to eat bass.
