Reno Autobody
Does anyone recommend taking a car to a particular shop to have body work done around the reno/carson area?

Search. We have covered this many times.

Many times. Concours.

From what I understood from reading other threads was Lithia was the only place that really sucked. Other than that I read good things about Cito, Steve’s collision, Concours, Shaber, custom creations, and Gilson’s. I guess with such a big group it is hard to pin point the “best shop” in the area. I just want a place that I feel comfortable putting my wide body on. from what I have read and some of the pictures i have viewed from others installing the kit it is not an easy process.

Shaber Ave. autobody might be the choice for that. Much of their business comes from the custom rod guys. They aren't insurance paint monkeys there.

i wouldnt take my car to concours again if my life depended on it.
they worked on my impala. i have spent over 40 grand at that place over the years. if i ever see Gil the owner outside that shop im going to pound his skull to baby food. |
^explain. And unless the $40k was a single time expense, your a slow learner.

eclipse keyed and broken windows, work was exceptional but gil was rude and very curt. (3grand total cost)
impala keyed. took to concours, did amazing work but gil was really condescending and rude. work was good so i put up with it. (cost 5grand total cost) impala hit in a parking lot. taken to concours for widebody custom work, full custom paint and shaved all doorhandles and any emblems. when i picked the car up there was a dent in the driver door. all dents were supposed to be removed. turns out someone pushed too hard when they were buffing it and pushed the metal in just slightly. gil tried to blame the dent on ME even though in the picture they hung of it on their wall in the showroom you could clearly see the dent. he tried to charge me extra at which point i had enough and reamed his ass out for being such a fucking prick all the time. (total cost 22grand) subaru hits a ladder on the freeway and is taken to concours, i specifically dont talk to gil but someone else in the front office because i like their work but i cant stand at this point talking to that shitbag. subaru takes near 2 months to be fixed. when i get it back the front bumper is attached incorrectly and i fix it at home. i didnt feel like the fight would be worth them fixing it. i notice after about 2 weeks that the front apr carbon lip is drilled incorrectly. the spacing is incorrect and looks shitty. i called the office and was forced to talk with gil. he flat out said i was wrong. i took the car in and showed it to him with a measuring tape a protractor and pictures of the old lip. he refuses to fix the problem. i am forced to fix that myself as well. (total cost 6k.) impala has a crack the that starts getting larger over the rear fender where they had shaped the metal. the concours warranty is supposedly for as long as you OWN your car. impala taken in and gil flat out said that i chipped away the paint and i could fucking pound sand. flat out refused to honor their warranty. said he had no intention of honoring their warranty on my car. tried to tell me that they had NOT done the widebody work. that i had got it done somewhere else and then THEY painted it. i came in two weeks later with pictures of me standing in HIS shop while HIS mechanic did the work. i also supplied the receipt FROM them and signed by GIL stating which work they had done. he still refused to honor thier warranty. that company can fucking burn in hell. gil the owner is quiet possibly the biggest shitbag i have ever met. fuck him AND his body shop. i can deal with people being dicks. in fact MOST people that are good at their job ARE in fact pricks because they take a certain ammount of pride in their work. however, liars and people who commit fraud are fucking shitbags. thanks for the slow learner comment. that was for sure called for. |
I see what you did there.

Is Gil at concourse the same Gil from Gilson's in Carson? 'Cause I have some choice words about the $1000 over I paid on my SVX for unauthorized work ("dent removal") down at Carson... not to mention the Earl Scheib quality job it ended up with.
|
No, Gil at gilsons is the original owners son i believe.
where as gil grieve directly owns Concours. |
I have heard nothing but good things about Steve's Collision by Baldini's from several people. As a matter of fact I just scraped the covered parking pillar at my apartments about an hour ago and made a small dent and paint scrapes so I must go see my friend Sean at Steve's to see how much it is going to hurt my wallet . He drives a white STI that you'll see there and does really good work.

I kinda wanna say Steve is a shitbag even though the shop may do great work. He told my insurance adjuster and me that he'd paint my car "at cost" but then he told me to wait until Summer as they were too busy, so I called him in the late spring and was told they don't paint cars any more as they're too busy. I asked why they told me to wait until Summer to have my car painted and they said they'd call me if it slows down. I'm totally holding my breath.
