Another flat...

So last night my tire pressure light came on again and it dropped from 40 to 20 and I looked at it this morning and it was totally flat....I don't have any luck with tires lately :(

MPREZIV 2008-01-22 09:02 AM

Sucks. Sounds like my luck: every time I buy new tires, I get a flat within the first couple weeks...

Emboyoyo 2008-01-22 09:22 AM

Yeah I called subaru to get a price on one new tire and it was $248.

Dean 2008-01-22 09:33 AM

Your tires should have a warranty. Check your glove compartment.

If not, we can beat that price at TireRack I bet.

What is it? An RE92? Size?

It's an RE92A size 205/55 16

Double check. Most new cars come with a warranty on the tires, often including puncture repair or replacement, sometimes the later is covered by the Roadside Assistance package.

If not, as long as it is not in the sidewall, is can probably be patched. (Not plugged)

VR or HR (205/55??16)

New at TireRack HR are $126, VR are $179. http://www.tirerack.com/tires/Sizes....l=Potenza+RE92

You may be able to find them used for way less on 4th st.

You might also be able to find a full set of 4 with wheels in somebody's garage in the club for less. :)

None of that appears to indicate road hazard coverage, Dean.

Okay well i'll have to look when I get home...I drove with someone down to work so I didn't have to drive on my spare in the snow.

Used tires can be had at Ray's and Hooten, both on 4th St. in Reno.

TireRack Warehouse is out near Mustang.

I went to hooten last july when I needed a tire.
he asked me
"so what car is this for?".
*oh its for my subaru.*
"sorry but I can't sell you just one tire for your awd car."
*no its fine, I just need one with about the same tread wear thats pretty close to the same size.*
"nope I can't do that, sorry."

So if you go to hooten and he asks you what car its for, simply tell him that its for a government research project and you cant get into details.

Warranty *warrants* against manufacturer defects, not road hazards...

If you have a Roadside Protection plan, that may cover the tire, but there's no warranty in the world that will cover a tire puncture. If the tire itself failed, you'd be good, but the nail's all on you unfortunately.

Just a side note on the subject of Potenza RE92A's.... They are NOT available through any tire manufacturer or through Subaru!!!! When I need to get them they come to us drop shipped from Subaru's manufacturing plant and take about 2 months to get to the dealer.... Treat these tires like they are GOLD!!!!

Yeah those tires suck....I JUST bought the car like 2 months ago and already lost one tire....I think i might just buy some expensive good tires when spring comes around....when I had my tires on the STi they lasted me 2 years.
