Hello from a local Evo owner! Pics!

Hey all! My name is Tripp and I just moved here from GA for school. I drive a 2003 Evo VIII with basic bolt-ons. To be totally honest when I was shopping for cars I wanted to buy a STi, but couldn't find one in my range and was on the verge of buying a WRX when I found my Evo for the same price :D. I joined to try to get involved in the local car scene as there doesn't seem to be a local Evo forum with the exception of a thread on EvoM. I'd love to get involved in some events at RFR and anything else I can.

I'm a full time student at UNR and detail on the side and would enjoy offering my services to anyone here. Please let me know if you want anything done and I'll be happy to meet up with you and give a quote. Since I do this on the side my prices are very reasonable and cheaper than anyone else around. Here are some pics of my car freshly detailed and my friend Evo VIII that I did when I went back to GA this winter:

Weekly meets, Thursdays at 7 pm at Tamarack Junction. See you there. :)

Tripperfx3 2008-01-23 07:23 PM

Kevin M 2008-01-23 07:26 PM

Top sticky in this forum has all the info.

Welcome to the board! Even though we're a Subaru board, for the most part we've got nothing but love for the EVO. They're certainly more bang for the buck than the WRX or STi these days.

BTW: Here's the thread BAN SUVS was referring to:

http://www.seccs.org/forums/showthread.php?t=1418, Tamarak is on the far south end of town on S. Virginia.

Thanks all! I'm a transfer student, but technically a freshman (a 22 year old freshman... Yea... It sucks ), so im doing my pre-business right now. Ill be doing international business with a minor in Japanese (I already have 4 years of Japanese from HS). Have you ever seen the car around campus (actually I may have seen yours... Is yours the one with the SPT exhaust and fog light covers up in the northern lot?)? I see lots of WRX's there. I think i've seen more WRX/STi's here (Reno) than I ever have in GA. What does yours look like?

JC-Is that your car in the sig? I believe I've seen your post on EvoM (or someone posted a pic of your car there) and I have to say I like it. Not everyone's cup of tea, but looks good!

I should be at the meet tomorrow. I see no problems so far and look forward to meeting everyone!

P.S. Just a pick of all my detailing stuff, so you know im not messing around :D

Just placed another 123 dollar order today too!

WRX06TR 2008-01-24 12:38 AM

No, I haven't seen your car, and no that isn't mine with SPT catback. I usually park at Circus Circus and walk (cause I am too cheap to buy a parking pass.) I have an Black 06 with Blitz Nur Spec R catback.

I'm a Mechanical Engineering major and with the way its going right now, I may graduate in 4-5 years

I might need you to detail my car because every time I wash it I get more upset that it looks worse with all the swirls. But I will wait until Spring when I can show it off :D

You and Tyson should get along well. He is our resident semi-compulsive detailer...

Welcome from the old man of the board.

MPREZIV 2008-01-24 07:39 AM

Welcome to the board! Nice ride!

Don't feel bad... I'm technically a 29 year old freshman.

Nick, talk to me at the meet about being an intern this summer. I can teach you a hell of a lot about autocad.

BOO 2008-01-24 08:59 AM

Welcome. Glad you finally made it to Reno.

Learn that calculus good, you'll never use it again. :)

cody 2008-01-24 10:24 AM

Welcome aboard!

Tripperfx3 2008-01-24 11:37 AM

Looking forward to meeting whoever shows up tonight. Who all is planning on being up there?

WRX06TR-Let me know man! Ill be happy to hook you up and I'm in the same boat. With my Major and minor it'll be a good 5 years .

JC-I transfered from Kennesaw State University (didn't know what the hell i was doing right out of HS!! lol). I then went to North Metro Tech and hold diplomas in automotive fundamentals and automotive technology. You must be pretty freakin' smart to have graduated from GA tech! What was your major? My friend just graduated from there (last year i think?) with a degree in automotive engineering and he now works for Toyo plant in Cartersville. He was also a part of the GA Tech auto club.

Dean-I look forward to meeting Tyson. Maybe him and I could get together on a job and I'm not here to step on anyones toes detailing wise or any other way for that matter .

Nick Koan 2008-01-24 11:40 AM

Tyson doesn't detail for money.

He details for the love of detailing.

If by "love of detailing" you mean "moderate to sever OCD" then I'll agree with that statement.

Kennesaw State isn't such a terrible school. You'll probably have more fun living away from home though. It's always a better experience. I got my Master's in Aerospace Engineering. Since I was a grad student I wasn't too involved with the school clubs. I hung out the Import Atlanta folks a couple times though. Interesting group of people.

There is some dirt on the black car from a mini snow run, but I'll drive tonight for the sake of having a Mitsubishi contingent.

Tripperfx3 2008-01-24 02:42 PM

Wish I could detail for free as I love doing it. I just picked it up as a hobby and a few friends asked me to detail there cars (this is when I was doing it by hand) and they just paid me what they could. I didn't ask for money. Then it started to grow into a full on obsession (probably close to OCD as I freak when it starts to snow and see them putting salt down) when I moved out here and ended up spending 450 bucks at Xmas on detailing stuff and then another 123 yesterday . The stuff I started using is really expensive ($40+ a bottle) and it takes me about 5-6 hours to do a full correction. I basically only charge to cover the cost of the products and a little to help out with tuition and such.

JC-Kennesaw state was fine, but it was like HS all over again for me . I'm actually not completely away from my family though as my Dad's a professor at UNR (YAY uber cheap tuition!), but I do live on my own with my GF which is a new experience. As far as the Import Atlanta guys goes... They are mainly D-bags and really ragged on me when I was selling my SR20'd 240sx. My friend Nate (Ran on IA) is there all the time though.

TysonK- My car is filthy due to all the snow and if it holds off for the day Ill probably go to the coin-op and spray it off before the meet :D.
