Please becareful out there...

Went to Bully's for lunch today. On the way home there was a real bad accident on 395 northbound. Looks like a Taurus and a big-rig mixed it up. There was about 100 gallons of diesel fuel all over the road. The Taurus looks like it had spun a few times and hit the wall real hard on the passender side rear end.

It must have just happened... when we got there the cops were just arriving on scene. Traffic was going past till I got to the front of the line, then a cop flagged me to stop so the Lifeflight chopper could land on the freeway. So me Tracy and her friend Noel sat there for 30 minutes while they tried to save this women's life and take the driver out of the car. We had front row seats to the accident scene. Unfortunately, the guy's wife didn't make it, and the Lifeflight copter left empty. The man seemed coherent the whole time, but they put him on a stretcher and Ambulanced him away.

Needless to say, the situation really sucked, and put a big ol' damper on my weekend. I can't help feeling for the poor guy who had to sit in his wrecked car while they tried to save his wife's life outside on the diesel soaked pavement... only to cover her with a simply blue sheet.

Everyone be careful out there. I don't know what caused the accident... but keep in mind everytime you get out on the road, shit can happen, and what was a simple drive up 395 that you've done a million times could suddenly change your life forever like that poor guy.

Sorry to bum anyone out...

BTW: anything I should know about the reaction of diesel and rubber? I had to park in a puddle of it for about 30 minutes.

I saw that crash on the news. Damn! Looked like Elliot Sadlers car at Talladega, very unfortunate indeed. I really couldn;t tell what happened though.

And, Diesel on your tires shouldn't be a problem, Its oil based, so its not very abrasive or even corrosive, Gasoline would maybe dry out the rubber in the same situation, but Diesel should be no big deal, it just stinks.

Sad situation. I read more about it today. Sorry to hear that you had to witness some of that Scott. Would have been a damper on my weekend also.

:(

Where'd you read about it? Any articles online?
