Headers
A poster from NASIOC posted "As we all know, our 2.5i's come with the dreaded equal length headers" but I haven't really seen any evidence that equal length headers provides "more performance" but generate sound (good or bad, I'm not sure).
Is there any evidence to support this theory that my 2.5i's equal length headers provide more power? (and the follow-up to that is, what would be the benefit to installing unequal length headers) Sorry, my n00b-ishness with cars is showing again, but this has been bothering me for awhile... Jake |
Headers will make minimal difference on the 2.5i. They makes some difference on the turbocharged cars, somewhere around 10hp and 20lb/ft torque (on turbo cars). The biggest difference is sound (all models) and powerband (turbo). Also, there isn't much out for the 08, I have been looking for my g/f she has an 08, but most companies are concerned with the new WRX and STi vs the new 2.5i.
BTW, this is very useful... http://forums.nasioc.com/forums/showthread.php?t=533787 |
Yeah, I checked that out. I guess I missed the headers when I skimmed over it.

I can account for headers on the older 2.5's helping to free up a bit of torque, and kinda "move" your usable torque curve down in the rpm range a bit. I couldn't say what's on the market for the newer cars tho, 'cause I ain't lookin'!
