It's like perpetual Halloween at my house!
So, in addition to the spiders and cobwebs just outside my front door that we've yet to hose off the walls since we moved in, today we found a little bat napping up-side down in the eves over the door!
I figured the little guy would take off to go hunting at dusk, but then realized that the porch light out there might keep him from thinking it was time to go. So, after it got dark I turned out the lights for a few hours and sure enough, I just checked on him, and he's gone. Hopefully leaving the light on will discourage him from coming back in the morning. I'd hate to have to hang aluminum foil all over my entryway to scare him away. |
Is your address either 001 Cemetery Lane, or 1313 Mocking Bird Lane???

Dude, don't scare him away.. bats are made of win and awesome. They eat mosquitoes, which makes them worth their size in gold out here. I'm gonna put up some bat boxes in our backyard to try and get more to move in.

Either way, it's moot, as he didn't come back to roost this morning. |

My parents are building a bat enclosure into (or near) their new home to help keep insects away. You don't really have to worry about 'skeeters here in Reno (which is why its probably not a big deal for Scott to scare it away), but you do in Sacramento where they are building. |
