No, I should have said who wants to help me: remove the turbo to pull the up pipe out the top of the motor. OR remove the sway bar, to get to the motor mounts, to jack up the engine, to pull the up pipe out the bottom, whichever is easiest.

Yeah, that happens a lot.

At any rate, it's all under control now. I got it out.

I was freakin' out a little bit because I was thinking I either need to have someone knows what they're doing come help me, or I am going to have to have my car towed to a shop so they can finish what I started (how embarrassing).

Um... removing the turbo is a 2-3 hour job, spills oil and coolant everywhere, and is generally a massive PITA.

Moving the swaybar out of the way of the engine bolts is 8 bolts (four for the jacking plate, two for each swaybar mount. No need to even loosen the endlinks.). Or you can just get a 14mm swivel socket and not move the swaybar at all (I have the same swaybar, and haven't had to remove it the last two times I took my motor out).

Either way, your nuts if you pull the turbo to get at the UP.

Well, you never know. It may be his nuts if he decides to remove the turbo to get to the UP.

I did not know that.

I tried a couple different wobble socket/extension combos but it didn't work. I'll have to keep the swivel socket in mind for the future.

Some people prefer to do it that way.

At any rate, I didn't end up having to do either. Thanks, everyone, for your help.
