Impreza window motor layin 'round? (super longshot)

Anybody have an older Impreza window motor hiding somewhere? I bet not one person has one, but I thought I'd check before I hit up the dealership.

Thanks.

Actually, I might have a window motor from a mid-90's Legacy. Not sure if it's the same or not. Also Pick and Pull is the best place for that kind of thing...

I thought about wrecking yards, but I don't want to put in an old motor. I'm hoping somebody might have one out already that's not terribly old. Not likely but worth a shot before I drop $200 at Lithia.

For $20, you might be able to pull one from PnP... so even if craps out quickly, it's still worth saving $180.

Good call...

Hells yeah, I had to do that with my old 1990 Legacy back in the day --- the PnP motor lasted the rest of the car's life.

Anybody know if 02 and up Impreza's window motors are compatible? Airport Auto Wreckers don't have any older Imprezas.

cody 2008-09-25 11:43 AM

Call a couple dealer parts dept's if nobody here knows.

They are not compatible, if anyone cares. No luck in my search so far.

100_Percent_Juice 2008-10-02 02:58 PM

In what way are they not compatible? Could you get it to work with minor modification?

Dean 2008-10-02 08:23 PM

Wonder if the parts car Scotty just got might have one that is compatible?

ScottyS 2008-10-02 10:49 PM

Yeah, I was wondering the same.

I think with modification they can. I think the only difference is either size or mounting holes or something. I'm not positive though.

Kevin M 2008-10-03 01:07 PM

Unlikely. What I have been told is that the coupe and sedan window slider frames are substantially different. Any post-92 Subaru 4 door window regulator shoudl be transplantable, but coupes are their own animal.

JonnydaJibba 2008-10-03 03:06 PM

I don't need the regulator anyway. The window motors for coupes and sedans are the same though. Which is why so many more coupe winder motors go out than sedans.

JonnydaJibba 2008-10-22 10:53 AM

Well I got a rebuilt motor of the Bay for $100 bucks. But it's the wrong one. Because a certain parts dept told me that any window motor from a 93 to 01 would work. Well another parts dept told me today that any window motor from a 97 to 01 will work. The motor I have is for a 93-97!!! ARG! So I'm gonna have to see if they want to give me money back even tho I bought the wrong part.

cody 2008-10-22 10:54 AM

Sucks.

ScottyS 2008-10-22 01:51 PM

Did you call the Rancho Cordova Subaru recyclers? The entire door for my sister's Legacy was only like $200.

JonnydaJibba 2008-10-27 09:35 AM

Do they ship?

Kevin M 2008-10-27 10:50 AM

Yeah, but it's probably cheaper to just go down there.

JonnydaJibba 2008-10-27 12:12 PM

Probably not? It would take most of a tank of gas and 5 or so hours of my time.

Yeah, and for small parts it is cheap. For a whole door, well, that's different.

JonnydaJibba 2009-01-14 09:22 AM

Well if anybody reads this in the future, if you have a coupe you will probably only be able to find this part at the dealer. I have ordered from 3 different sites, and the part doesn't fit even tho I'm told it's the correct part. So I suggest going to the dealer like I'm going to do. Lithia is cheaper than michael hohl.

cody 2009-01-14 09:27 AM

Check with my buddy, John: http://www.trademotion.com/splash/in...?siteid=214686

JonnydaJibba 2009-01-14 09:55 AM

Thanks Cody. Lithia won't have the part in til Monday if I do order it.

Their phone prices are different than their online prices. Higher by about 70 dollars. I'm not ordering anything again without speaking to someone. This is getting ridiculous.
