NFS Underground

Ok so, how many of you (like me) have been following the NFS games?

The newest one came out yesterday, NFS "Undercover" I was just wondering if you guys have played it.

I want to rent it and will totally buy it if its most like NFS Most Wanted. I have always played the NFS games but was never all that jazzed about them until NFS Hot Pursuit. I really liked Underground2 and Most Wanted but, I thought the other two latest ones were crap(carbon and prostreet, i think). I think I just like racing games when your being chased by the cops ;)

*cough we have a new games thread!!cough*

:)

The last good NFS game was Hot Pursuit. So if you have played any of the NFS games that came out after that, and agree with my statement, don't buy the new one. I had some fun with Most Wanted, but I found it to be too much of a departure from their early games (anything before NFSHP2 [HP2 was the beginning of the end]). The customization is fun and a good addition, but the gameplay has been lacking for a very long time.

*cough* crap, I forgot *cough*

So yeah It might be the RICER in me but I enjoy getting chased by the POPOs too

The cops are the most fun part of the series. I spent days and days on the first Hot Pursuit. But then they went this open world route with Underground and have continued it, and that has turned me away from the series. I dunno, the racing just isn't as fun. I think it's because the pre-Underground games had closed tracks and I like racing on those better. When I can just turn any direction and take any road I want, I don't feel like I'm racing anymore.

It's funny, I like open world shooters or action games, but not so much racing.

IGN reviewed the new NFS and said it sucked horribly. They gave it a 4 out of 10. Idk, I liked most wanted and carbon, prostreet was ok, but wasn't the same NFS stuff. I don't think I am even going to bother picking the new one up...

ScottyS 2008-11-19 05:29 PM

I liked the original Hot Pursuit strictly for the soundtrack titles. o_0

BOO 2008-11-19 06:20 PM

you know, the funny thing is that I also enjoy the games more because of the Tracks. I wonder if I am blinded by the tracks

These games would be marginally more fun if the cars didn't all drive like bars of soap in a bathtub.

Didn't you know? A Supra with 1800hp and 600lbs of useless wings drives exactly like a bar of soap in a bathtub.

Double decker wing = double downforce, duh.

I throw in San Andreas when I feel like battling with the popo. Vigilante missions are the best.

+1. HP2 was good on PS2 and PC (the Xbox version was ported by a different dev team and was total crap), and everything since had just loaded up with more junk to appeal to the highschool age ricer kids. NFS was good when it was about driving fast cars, not about building up street cred points for adding useless body kits and decals.

Best NFS ever:

Good call Jerimiah. It's gone from Need for Speed to Need for Bling and Flashy Thingies and Vents and Shit. NFBAFTAVAS. Has a nice ring to it.

100_Percent_Juice 2008-11-25 09:06 AM

So has anyone tried this game yet or what?

Kunikos 2008-12-01 02:36 PM

It's getting a pretty dull metacritic rating
