Playing Hooky

I'm going boarding tomorrow. There's going too be too much fresh powder to go to work. I was thinking of going to Mt. Rose since tomorrow's two for Tuesday. Anybody want to go? ...or I guess I could always find another person to go in on tickets in the parking lot.

You sure there is enough base? This has been a really cold storm which usually makes for bad base and unless I am mistaken, it fell on top of mostly dirt, rocks, skeletons, fallen trees...

As of 2:24pm today, Mt Rose had a Base of 12-18" with 14-18" of fresh on top and another foot or so coming in the subsequent 24 hours.

I guess the recession makes it hard to get a date too.

Rock boards are recommended.

I'll be up there for a few hours in the morning, but I have a season pass.

That's all I got: Sperry's old Burton Floater tank of a board he sold me and my old Burton Bullet that I've been using for the last 8 years. The Bullet has so many scars from my ham fisted repair jobs but it's more comfy/fun than the uber stiff Floater. They're both coming up the mtn and I don't care if one of them breaks. I'm more concerned about my own well being. It's the first day of the year so I'll be taking it easy. I can never convince myself to stay out of the trees though. Powder's like crack.

Sweet dude... thrash my old board! Someone needs to ride it, since I never really did!

It's actually an awesome board in deep powder. It's just too stiff for anything else. TWSS.

Does that explain why I got my ass kicked so badly on the icy days I used it?

(I'm gonna guess is was more just that I really sucked at snowboarding.)

I've still never used those boots I bought from you, or the board I bought from Lowball like 4 years ago.

k-dogg39 2008-12-17 03:56 PM

So how was it?

cody 2008-12-17 04:09 PM

Epic! I got up there at 8:30 and was one of the first down the mtn. Sperry's old board was actually better since I had put lower temp. wax on it last year. My board with fresh all-temp wax was hard to get going on the flats since it was so cold. There was tons of fresh fluffy snow and I didn't get in too much trouble with the rocks. After lunch, everything was kinda ski'd out though so I took off around 1:30. I am sore.
