How do i read my CEL , 93 imp!

Howdy!

does anyone know off hand how to check an ODB 1 , engine code? My 93 ever since i bought it would throw a check engine code if you tried to go up spooner in 5th gear. it would lose speed in 5th so i just always drive up in 4th.

Now it started to get the check engine code in 4th gear. A buddy suspected it could be knock ... :?: but the dummy method of putting in some 89 didn't make the problem go away (although i got slightly better gas millage somehow)

:?:

Thanks :)

If it's like the SVX, it involves inserting some jumper pins into a diagnostic plug and counting the CEL flashes.

Ya, , i had figured out that i have to "connect wires" but i don't want to randomly connect wires down there and hope i don't destroy my ecu. Searched on nasioc and google have not found a single diagram or explanation of What to connect. some mention a green wire... in what looks like the OB1 clip i have 3 green wires... green with white, green with red stripe, and larger green & red

there's also a single green wire with a female end, (and one more with a male end) ?

anyone have Experience doing this?

You're probably going to need a service manual. You might want to check the SVX manual here: http://www.seccs.org/tech The connectors might be the same since the two cars are of similar vintage... but the SVX has a lot of one-off crap on it too, so YMMV.

Shit, I had a bunch of good links on my old hard drive to lists of codes and pics of the plugs.
I know its green plugs, well one of them is :?: . I think they are taped or bundled together under the right side of your steering column. If I can muster up some ambition to put on shoes I can go out and confirm colors for you.

awesome, thanks :)

and some of my wires aren't in the exact stock location due to taking out my dash and part of the wiring harness for cage install. i know of a singular solid black, and a singular solid green both with male/female, then there's a odb1 block with maybe 6 or 8 wires...

I may have to run over to storage and dig up the service manual.

thanks for the links i'll give it a shot :)

Thats the two plugs, 1 yellow wire to one plug, 1 black(or dark) wire in the other plug.

That sounds nothing like the SVX, which has a white connector and two blue jumper pins, IIRC.
