New Fox season: Dollhouse <> T:SC Chronicles

Finally watched Dollhouse, the new show on Fox that follows Terminator: Sarah Conner Chronicles.

Not impressed. Cop searching for secret organization of brainwashed women saving the world and/or having sex, ex cop doing the boss woman's bidding, obligatory nerd... In some ways, the characters sound like they are from the same recipe just mixed different.

To be honest, the first episode of the new season of TSCC was pretty lame as well. SSDD. Mom shot, John doing something stupid, bad terminator killing people who are stupid. Snore...

I know I am going to get flamed, but I am more interested in the new season of Kyle XY if I could get them to download... ABCF web site sucks. Looks like it is off to the torrents.

This is also where tyson says I should like House... :)

There is nothing on Sci-Fi either... Never got into Battelstar.

tysonK 2009-02-16 06:32 PM

house is ok, i never said it was the best show ever.

The best show ever is The Wire.

that is all.

dollhouse sucked.

Dean 2009-02-16 06:46 PM

I expected more from Joss Whedon. I didn't care for Buffy, but really like Firefly. Oh well.

van 2009-02-16 07:00 PM

I don't like Joss Whedon but I somehow bought every season set of Buffy (My Wife likes it 'shudders') House has sucked since they replaced his original sidekicks, LOST is the only thing good on anymore besides The Discovery channel, and LOST lost a lot of my attention due to all this half season shit, 9 months between episodes Bah. TV will rot your brains

I saw a few episodes of "Wreckreation Nation" that were pretty damn entertaining. They covered topics like lawn mower racing, alligator wrestling, Tug Fest, and a bunch of other hilarious crap. I also have been watching "Howie do it" which I find pretty funny.

Really? I have heard that statement from so many people. But we rented the first few episodes of S-1 and just couldn't get into it. It seemed.. moderately boring? :?:

It's television.......what do you expect?

Kevin M 2009-02-18 09:28 PM

The only new show I like this year is Life. Damian Lewis (who played Major Winters in Band Of Brothers) is awesome, and playing a pretty enjoyable character to watch.

The woman and I watch the Mentalist. It's A LOT like house, which we also watch. My favorite show is Good Eats though.

Between the weekly episodes of Chuck, The Office and 30 Rock, its all reruns of Good Eats and Futurama over here :D

cody 2009-02-19 09:33 AM

Oh yah, we watch Chuck too. We're a little luke warm on The Office although I throw it on after she's asleep sometimes. Same with Futurama. I think 30 Rock is on at the same time as two other shows we record so it's a no-go but maybe there are reruns on UPN or something, I'll have to check. I've actually never seen that show. :(

I can honestly say, there is nothing on TV that I really care about enough to watch regularly. I think the closest thing to a "series" that Lisa and I watch is the Daily Show and sometimes Colbert.

In fact, we've discussed canceling our cable. The only thing keeping it around is that we like cable internet better than DSL, and Formula 1 races on Speed. If I knew DSL would be reliable, and if I had a way to get all the F1 races online or something, I'd can Charter today.

That's what we did a couple years ago. We just have an antenna now for the tv, and DSL. The DSL is pretty reliable though, and we're very far from the nearest junction/whatevertheycallit, according to the technician.

We actually get more broadcast channels now since we got a converter box to get digital signals. I'd say we get.. 15-20.

Nick Koan 2009-02-19 10:22 AM

Despite the fact that I had that week long outage (prolonged by the fact that I didn't call tech support for 5 days) the AT&T DSL is pretty reliable in our area Scott. In the past year, I can only think of one other time it went down for a random period of time.

You can even get dry line DSL now, wherein you don't need a phone number.

cody 2009-02-19 10:27 AM

DSL only goes up to 1.5Mb in my neighborhood or I'd switch to DirecTV or Dish and dump Charter completely. But Charter internet alone is really expensive I think.

My neighborhood just started supporting 3 and 6 mb (well, kinda. see previous comment about being down for a week). Maybe yours will soon too.

I have like 22 episodes of Good Eats on the DVR.

I'd be happy w/ 1.5Mb I think. Charter keeps bumping their slowest offering from 3Mb, now to 6Mb, and they raise the price when they do so. I don't need that much bandwidth to read my email and watch YouTube. I don't use bit-torrent, and I barely game online. Yet I'm forced to pay higher and higher rates for faster cable than I need.

Dean 2009-02-19 11:50 AM

I have been very happy since I moved from charter to DSL. Much more reliable and consistent throughput.

I have only had a few minor interruptions in the past few years with DSL vs. many when I had Charter.

Bit torrent is usually really slow based on the upload speed of others so I only want 5Mb for downloading random junk from websites and now that I have the PS3, for downloading content for that too...although that seems to be downloading very slowly for some reason. I could totally live with 1.5 though. I really just don't want to have to reprogram a new DVR.

Anyone know if you can use an external usb drive for DVR's from Dish or Directv to expand storage? We're used to having 590GB of space.

tysonK 2009-02-19 10:36 PM

Yeah I dumped Directv a while ago. They were the devil with customer service, but the actual quality of the product was pretty good. There is nothing on TV.

I have 1.5 DSL. My connection goes out about once every 3 months usually I call and it's some kind of reset the dude does. I thought it was my router or something but the tech always says he had to do something, so whatever.

I don't know what to say. The characters are great. The writing is consistent and smart. The plot is interesting without being overly complicated.

Also I enjoy boring things. :P

In real life, lol, I only recommend that show to people whom I think deserve to watch it.
