08 sti exhaust?

my brother just got an 08 sti and is looking to buy a catback exhaust and wants to get the best one possible. any suggestions?

we went to summit racing and they had a magnaflow system for around $600. was wondering how that would do. i heard its pretty quiet. i think he wants the loudest possible.

rumor at subaru is the SPT will be released soon. it should be pretty sick. bosal usually makes them but not sure for the new STi.

i have the Invidia q300 catback on my 08 sti. sounds really nice at idle and is pretty loud when your on it. i also have a divorced invidia down pipe on it as well :D

I recently glued some metal together for an 08 wrx hatch. Can make again or custom whatever you want. This particular exhaust is mandrel bent 3" all the way back to the Borla stainless "XR1 Race" muffler. Pointed slightly up and to the right like n1 style, but the Borla case is a true oval. Tip is 3.5" hand made from 304 stainless. It was way hekka loud, but pure awesomeness. Then I ended up adding a high flow cat and Dynatech silencer to make it wife/newborn baby friendly. The dude and car lives here in South Tahoe so you can see it anytime you're here, or I'll take and post pics as soon as my new camera charger gets here. PM me if interested.

Is your license plate "ITSASTI"? I was behind you (red SVX) on Sunday as you were getting on 395 south at Neil Road.

Your exhaust is obnoxiously loud, and the cloud I had to drive through smells like you're tuned at about 10:1 under boost. :P

haha yup that was me.
i really like how it sounds. its distinct. but it is running rich because i was tuned at sea level :~:

Um, no... your ECU has tables for barometric changes, so a good tune should run similarly in terms of richness at all altitudes within reason. 5K' is within reason.

08awsti 2009-03-02 08:25 PM

oh. i didnt realize that a protune works the same way as a factory tune like that.
but never the less, the protune i got doesnt run as good as the nevada stage 2 map on the access port :(

100_Percent_Juice 2009-03-02 08:53 PM

That sucks. Who tuned it?

Unless you have made more mods since it was done, that is just not right and they should fix it.

08awsti 2009-03-02 08:59 PM

no other mods have been done since the tune.. i plan on doing some more mods soon though, and having it retuned, propably by Ed

There's a Nevada stage 2 map?

Kevin M 2009-03-03 03:42 PM

Probably just the high altitude map, I'm guessing.

cody 2009-03-03 03:57 PM

Huh, I spot checked and didn't see a high altitude map.

NV map is probably NON-CA '91 octane map. :)

cody 2009-03-03 04:14 PM

NON-CA? They have "ACN" maps "(designed specifically for AZ/CA/NV 91 octane)" and anyone else that has knock when using the normal 91 octane maps. There's also the "HWG" maps for people having trouble hitting target boost. I'd think that might be more apropriate for higher elevation so maybe that's what he meant.

Dean 2009-03-03 04:17 PM

Normal 91 map is what I am referring to. The other Map used to be called the CA91 map.
