SCCA Annual Tech Inspections 3/28

The annual Tech. Inspection day is set for March 28, from 9am to 12pm, at C&C Fuel Injection.

This year, it will be required that drivers have in their possession at the time of inspection either a copy of the actual 2009 SCCA Solo rule book, or the printed first page of the downloaded version from the SCCA web site. I.E. if you hold out a flash drive, and tell me it's on there, you are NOT getting a tech inspection.

Come with you car ready to be inspected. That is, in race condition. If R compound tires are to be used, and you can't drive them on the street, that is the only exception that will be made. Cars must have numbers, and have all items/accessories that are not to be in the car when raced must me removed (loosely mounted sub-woofer boxes, etc.). And don't forget your helmet!

Questions, comments, and mad delusions of reality will be fielded in this thread...

Sorry, you have to run at least 1/2 of the previous season to qualify. IIRC you were one or two events short- being eligible for Novice means you're not eligible for Annual Tech.

It's the tech inspector's discretion afaik, I believe we scrapped the 1/2 year rule.

szucchet 2009-03-16 05:55 PM

so i might have to run novice at tne beggining of tne season

You never "have to" run novice, you just only get one full season in it. You can run in a points class all season if you wish.

I believe I got mine for ~$100 at Summit Racing here in town. Make sure you try it on before you buy.

Really? Damn me and my missing the meetings...

I still think the 'half of the previous year' rule is not a bad idea, more so in the case of a newbie obviously. For example: if Sperry made it out this year, I'd see no issue with giving him an annual, seeing that he's not new to this, despite his not running half of last year.

Silvio: If it's my decision to make, I don't see a problem getting you in, if you're only one or two events shy of the half year mark. The focus here is that the racer has been around long enough to know the rules, and expectations.

If it's the inspector's discretion, Cory you could always just tell the folks that didn't quite get to half-way last season that you'll give them annual tech after they do 2 or 4 more events. There's nothing that says you can't give annual tech later in the season.

Not suggesting that Silvio needs "practice" going through tech or anything, but for the people you don't know at all that were just shy of meeting the half-year requirement, you can still vet them a little w/o having to force them to tech at every event for the whole season.

Good idea Scott!
